I do box fan on screens while I wait for everything to come off so I can run my cabinet dehydrator full. But I also noticed that the fruits prune up on the outside in front of just the fan and then they retain their shape and color perfectly during the dehydrator. I noticed wet fruits right into the dehydrator get all string beany and toasted looking.

Nah it's just not the recommended standard these days. There is a lot of smart folks on these forums so just gotta stay humble sometimes and have thick skin. If you listen to the right people you'll up your game big time. Don't take it personal though.
Envious. Something to remember. Just because it isn't the standard doesn't make it wrong.
It might be less efficient in some scenarios or more in others. If you already have a fan running and you are just choosing a location to set them while you wait you are just allowing evaporation to take place which will make your dehydrator work less.
If you are in a place and your fan isn't already running or you have high RH it will be less efficient.
Something to keep in mind is the experienced people on here don't always agree on the "right way". They usually only agree on the right results.
Worry about results and your environment. The process to get to the results depends on your environment.

The cells grow within a few hours to retain water giving a more robust cellular matrix. Very likely once dried that same cell structure acts to protect actives within those cells. Straight to the dehydrator prevents that. The ones that sit for a while cut also hold up better as dry fruits vs ones that go straight into the dehydrator...

Hey Nektar, The site where I ordered my growing kit had that recommendation. I’ve also been looking at other sites, and although I recognize this one appears to be very well run, I like to look at various sources. There are many that talk about pre~drying so it didn’t seem that out of place to me. I didn’t mean to sound like I was coming in as a know it all. Quite the opposite.
All of that being said, I recognize that you all are the experts here and I defer to your knowledge. I’ve moved them all to the dehydrator. Now I just need to leave them in there for 6 days at 240° like AskJeeves told me. 😉
Thanks again all, hoping the second flush comes in bigger and badder!

Pic of my day.
I shred errything and then grind it all up once it's dry. I'm pretty OCD about avoiding stomach issues, so I like to inspect the interior of every fruit and get rid of moisture as quickly as possible. It also helps everything get finely ground more easily. It all looks like shit in the jar until then, which I don't see as a bad thing on the security front.
I also pick immature fruits on a regular basis, and don't really give very many fucks about flushes that all come in uniformly or side/bottom pins.
There's obviously a grace period where you can do whatever the hell you want, be that let your fruits sit around at room temperature, put them in front of a fan, or what-have-you. And then a more substantial period where fridge storage will work out fine.
This site ain't really run at all. The platform is a well-designed one, the mods are upstanding folk, and the rest is informal playground peer review. This just happens to be the playground with all the big kids on it.
Here's some evidence of how this site isn't really "run": the way this thread is devolving into a bunch of chit-chat with no pictures 😡

Sneak preview of some trich experiments I am running.
Deliberately introduced some pure trich spores grown on agar to a sterile grain jar using a sterile swab:
Day1:

Day3:

Day 4:

Day 5 - Just 5 days from spore introduction to sporulation.

LOL! It will definitely be disposed of outside. I'm trying to dispel some superstitions around how and when trich infects grows and how to best avoid it.

I still haven’t picked up a dehydrator, so I’m still drying my fruits in my plant grow tent, layed out on wire cookie racks on top of my grow lights. Constant airflow from the fans blowing in the tent and the exhaust fan is always pulling out warm humid air and drawing in fresh.

Yes please do. There are a LOT of wives tales and terrible misconceptions about trichoderma.

Semperviva, Natalensis, Gandalf, and a bunch of Fiji crosses made it to T1 today
First PoTD since July. Not much, but it feels awesome to be able to grow again and awesome to be back here looking at all of your work. I recently moved, so I packed it all up extra early for a little peace of mind. It's going to be interesting getting adjusted to a new climate, but I'm certainly looking forward to seeing how things go now that I'm out of that damn desert.

There's no argument, people are allowed to disagree on what we're looking at through grainy photos (pun intended)
That jar just doesnt really show any of the indicative signs of bacteria in my opinion based on my experience. No thick creamy myc, no wetness or metabolites, no mushed grains against the glass, none of the telltale signs but hey what do I know ya know
It looked fine to me too, just at the funky stage where it’s not totally recovered from the shake.

Super interesting to hear! Would you know the time period (ball park) in which this happens? I usually let the mushrooms sit for a few hours till im ready to dry
