The paradox is inscrutable.

Wow, I'm glad the video was able to spark such insightful discussion

 I enjoyed the video. "If you think you understand God, that ain't God."

Is that the paradox? I was considering some challenge or something but it slipped away.

I liked the part about the Buddha in his mind going to the corners of the world and sitting with every being until cool with it.

Yeah I think the paradox, once again goes back to the separation idea.  That you can't know God while you think you are you (separate).  To know God you must become God, and then there's nothing for YOU to know, because there's no you (ego).

I suppose also to know anything is to know God - as has been said, the problem is in interpretation. If we bring no interpretation, do we know? Kind of the same thing you said.

Exactly!  And it's quite difficult (impossible?) for the rational mind to examine something without interpretation or judgement of some sort.

What an amazing video! I don't even know where to start ..

God is such a strange word, it definitely means totally different ideas or concepts depending on who's reading it and what they've been thru in life , hell even all of language and sentences them selves are the same way

During that first saint Augustine quote I am instantly reminded of Apophatic Theology  , to understand God, first understand what God isn't , then you got Joseph Campbell, and there it is again !

Neti neti! Neither this , nor that

Never realized 6 billion people are religious on earth :strokebeard: and I've always wondered why there are so many different religions...

Such An amazing quote from Einstein  optical delusion , so great
One must look at the "universe" as one single total ocean, all made up of water with truly no difference whatsoever from hither and thither

Thank you so much for sharing

You're welcome! I thought it was great.  Never knew Einstein was so spiritual

Btw that After Skool YouTube channel has a LOT of great videos, check em out if you have extra time!

To be completely honest that after skool channel - the alan watts and ram dass videos specifically are what got me into the path of "spirituality" that I'm currently on , and influenced my philosophical journey and has led me to where I am now

When Brian mentioned advaita vedanta I was like :datass:

Alan Watts was one of my early favorites as well.  The After Skool guy really picks some great ones, even some of the ones not pertaining to spirituality.  But when there's a new spiritual one, I get excited, he finds some of the best quotes out there!

Wow, I really emptied whatever myself is last night :datass:

I have realized that during my everyday meditation I am no where near close,  to the level of ability I have to meditate when I am experiencing a psychedelic... I have concluded it is so very easy to strip away the ego and have nothing left except the observer...

I melted away and experienced "nirvana/moksha" or "fabric of existence" or "becoming one with the universe" it was as if I was watching a movie screen, in which the screen - projector - is always on - realizing i am the screen and the watcher of screen , I felt the interconnectedness of everything - I felt the paradoxical nature of all reality and how it's always a play unto itself

I can only scratch that surface while in sober meditation.. :strokebeard:

After last night I have a whole new appreciation for the entheogen aspect of psychedelics and even after having using psychs for the past 14 years.. it's as if i had taken for the first time :awecid:

Words are meaningless , everything is just a concept and idea to experience
