I’ve seen conflicting info about the fanning. Why not ever? passive FAE is good. pushing dry air at your mycelium is bad

I have around 20 cakes (two might be contaminated). So…fairly. And I’m inoculating more tonight.
I pushed the four closer together - not sure if that helps at all.

Doubt you will ever see anyone here suggest fanning. That's an old tek and pretty much everyone uses FAE now.

Here’s how it looks now. I have more cakes coming, but they won’t be ready for a few weeks. Do y’all think I should space the ones in the SGFC out or leave them how they are?
(I just closed the window for the pic.)

I'm liking that tote full of PF jars.

The ones in the totes? Should I take the covers off and spread them out? I didn’t know it mattered at that stage.
Thanks for the advice!

oh idk im just saying the holes are typically left uncovered for gas exchange so maybe the closed tub is defeating that purpose. i always leave mine out. good to see so many cakes! i hate when ppl only knock up 3 or 4 like cmon just dive in

The quantity is the part I liked. I keep mine in a cardboard box with the flaps open so it stacks well.
If I were to do more pf tek more often I would have to come up with a better way to store them. Probably just stacked on top of each other on a shelf.

Haha - every time I screw up something new, I have to do another batch as penance. And I figure I’ll lose some along the way (already have).
I’ll take them out and let them breathe!

I do twice what I think I need on things. Let's me learn twice as many ways not to do them lol.
Still trying to figure out where I got mold from in my current batch of PF Tek.

looking good Chelonia!
and now try not to open the tote 27 times a day to check or handle them for no particular reason but curiosity;) its not easy but the more you just leave them alone and keep them in a steady environment with high humidity the better.
i would not have put all the eggs in one basket but as you are going for this kind of fruiting chamber it is really looking good what you have done there. keep us posted!
