Also, not for nothing, but the second half of this thread title is about WW3. Russia is clearly in no shape to fight WW3. They can't even take a few provinces of a poor neighboring country.

That’s why we’re hellbent on escalation. We tend to not show pause when there’s blood in the water. Permanently severing the mutual trade relationship between Russia and Europe only serves to further isolate Russia. This logic that seems so esoteric to some of you is the underlying premise of the economic sanctions we put on nations like Russia.

It also happens to significantly increase energy costs in Europe, putting political pressure on leadership to do anything they can to restart the flow of oil, including abandoning Ukraine.
It's an odd situation, but exporting Russia's primary export right now seems like a mistake for Russia.

Why is that Russia and USA are the primary suspects. Most of the world would applaud if Ukraine claimed the deed, no?

It’s actually Venezuela probably. By creating an energy crisis in Europe, they usher in an environment where sanctions on their own oil exports are eased.

It doesn't seem to matter who did it. Neither pipeline was in use.

Yeah cuz America had such an easy time in the Middle East didn't they? And America's enemies weren't being supplied modern rocket systems, tanks, planes, drones, weapons, etc to fight back either.
I mean imagine if when US/NATO went into the middle east that Russia, China, Venezuela, Iran, began shipping modern weapon systems to the Iraqi Government, or the Taliban, or ISIS. I suspect American/NATO losses would have been much worse than they already were.

I'm more worried about the precedent. It could provoke nations to begin disabling each other's underwater telecom/internet cables as well as destroying each other's active pipelines. I know that when I went scrolling through the RT comments that the majority of them were calling for Russia and China to begin destroying US/NATO oil/gas pipelines and undersea cables.

Well there's your first mistake, reading comments on news articles is always a race to the bottom.

What did it change? Your oven was off and Putin turned it off a while ago.

You say that, but it shows the sentiment of people or at least people who follow politics. I see it as a canary in the coal mine sort of thing. I doubt they're the only ones thinking such things. I wouldn't be surprised if such proposals have been made from government leaders.

Not really man. When you spend your time commenting on news articles that are clearly going to be biased from the get go then you've already lost.

That's your opinion I suppose. That doesn't disregard their opinions, however. Opinions which likely are shared by millions of other people.

If you are motivated to post in those comment sections you are probably in the minority. That type of comment section collections outraged people and not much in between. It's no different than Amazon reviews, the reasonably satisfied people have no reason to review and they are the vast majority of customers, but the really displeased and the extremely pleased feel the need.

You say that, but much of what I've heard in said comments I've heard repeated many many times from other sources, usually from government / news propaganda. Most of the time the people in the comments seem to be just regurgitating political memes they've heard elsewhere.

I mean stuff like this happened - and there were multiple foreign intelligence agencies working against the US... much of it would've made little difference in somewhere like Iraq where US surface control was so swift and complete that the only possible resistance was through small arms and gureilla tactics - they would have no airfields to launch from, places to hide armored vehicles, etc. Even with some of the best systems of that era - they wouldn't have been able to deny the US DEAD(destroy enemy air defense) tactics - they would not have been able to shoot down all the cruise missiles cratering their runways, etc.
The best advantage to gain there was to fight completely irregularly - because any real mass concentration, artillery, armor, etc would be wiped off the map by US air resources
IS was fairly well funded and well armed - they had stinger missiles, apcs, tanks, drones, and thousands of humvees and American weaponry they captured from Iraq and they lost pretty rapidly when we applied rather small pressure..
Also this is why Russia is getting their ass kicked, because they can't do any of that ^
