Glad to see it was a simple problem. It amazes me how many people just park cars for good instead of learning to fix shit. But, that's how I get good stuff....by fixin people's "junk"

Me too! Got my nice Husqvarna snowblower and my lawn tractor free that way from my neighbor. I mean they were bring really nice as well but they were moving and didn't wanna mess with em. All it took was a new carb and a new mower blade.
Stuck on this damn car though, passenger side axle won't come out of the bearing mount that it passes through. If I had a lift I could probably get it but working on the dirt ground is a shit show. I may sell it and make a little profit cause I gotta do my whole front suspension on my main car, 07 Corolla S.

Those axels can be a pain in the ass to remove as you are experiencing. Apply heat to the bearing without burning the rubber boot, and you should be able to pop it out with a rubber hammer. For some real fun, you should see how bad that job is on a 90's 4wd ford! Talk about a heat and beat

I wish I could do the torch trick, unfortunately the mounting bracket is pretty large and near some lines that could get melted easily, not to mention all the leaked oil that's on them...
Oh man I can imagine on that vehicle what a pain it would be! I've got a 97 gmc rust queen of the east that I don't think I could do much of any kind of work on, it's so bad...

Well, I put the Camry on hold and worked on my main car, an 07 Corolla. The sway bar end links were so bad it was embarrassing driving down the road because even the pedestrians could hear the loud clunking/rattling coming from both sides
Replaced the end links, front struts, and ball joints. Was gonna do the control arms as well but the bolts started sounding like they were gonna break off if I gave any more force, and I wasn't ready to deal with that so I left the old ones in for now.
Took it for a test drive and it sounds and rides so much better now, but I'll have to adjust my alignment tomorrow cause I've got toe out so severe on both sides the tires squeal at the smallest turn. I guess that's probably to be expected when replacing so many suspension parts At least I know how to do the alignment myself and save $100.

Alignment all good now! If you're careful and take lots of very accurate measurements, the string method of alignment works amazingly well.

Well our Yaris shit the bed so I gave my wife the Corolla and got the Camry going.
Rollin with antique plates and no inspection sticker but it sure runs good, even though there's a pretty significant oil leak. I'm pretty sure it's the valve cover gasket, a pretty easy job I'll do this weekend. If it's not that, it might be the oil pump seal. Really hoping that's not the case.

I replaced the valve cover gasket ($19), and that fixed like 90% of the oil leak, it doesn't leak any significant amount of oil now. Even took it in and it passed inspection and got a sticker!
Yeah I meant to check the oil sending unit too, it probably does leak a little bit but I haven't got there yet. What's more urgent to me right now is figuring out how to get better gas mileage, I'm only getting like 27mpg right now and I know this little 2.2l should do better.
Already replaced plugs, gonna check the MAF sensor and whatever else I can Google is common to help that, I drive pretty far to work and gas is killing me compared to my Corolla which gets 40mpg!

Cool project man!
Some lightweight rims would help a little with MPG also a high performance air filter.
Are u gonna do a new paintjob by chance?

Paint job I wish, that's far beyond my skill or equipment level though! Some rims would be nice, but definitely over my budget. I'm lucky if I can afford 2 stock sized snow tires for the front in winter
I did Google and I guess anywhere near 25-30mpg is pretty normal for these cars. I forgot how much Toyota has improved gas mileage in 30 years. This is actually the last year Toyota used a real cam-driven distributor before they moved to solid state on the 5s-FE and capped off the end of the cam.
I did spend all day yesterday installing an amp and 12" sub though, cause you can't be a G in a 92 Camry without bumping a little Brutha Lynch every now and then
Doing it the right way was actually a lot more intensive than I thought, figuring out how to remove all that trim and get through the firewall and run the wires properly. Took frickin 9 hours, but I managed to not break a single trim piece or throw any tools which is a miracle.
I actually took some pics of the install I'll post later.

paint is a bitch but can be done well enough with a cheap compressor and harbor freight sprayers. Just mix at the right ratios and make sure youre out of the wind and rain. Make sure to really scuff the shit out of the old urethane first, though.

Nice! Might have to give that a learn some time! That would be cool to be able to do.
