Poison free pesticides for the garden * 2

If you dissolve a bit of corn starch or basically any kind of grain flour into boiling water, it decomposes into Dextrin. if you spray that on your plants, the insects will get wet with it, when they dry up it clogs their respiration and they die. starch/dextrin is rapidly used up by microbes such as yeasts into co2 and h2o.

any more recipes?

If your roses re full op aphids, spray them with plain water with a drop or two of dishwashing detergent in the mister.

Little insects rely on the surface tension of water. A bit of soap, even handcrafted bar soap, breaks that surface tension, the water becomes much more fluid, drowning the aphids.

Cool tips, Asante! I've never tried the corn starch remedy, but your soap trick works really well.

For mosquitoes in standing water with no way of draining: pouring some vegetable oil in the container, puddle, etc. will stop them from being able to breathe. It kills the larvae off in less than a week and the adult mosquitoes don't seem to like trying to land on top of a layer of oil.

True, but not everyone has neem oil on hand. Most people do have some kind of vegetable oil in their home though.
