I'm finally getting to try In-N-Out tonight!

Being from the east coast I've never had to opportunity and I keep hearing how awesome it is. I've had the usual, Shake Shack, Five Guys, Habit, etc. Shake Shack is just too greasy. Like the bun becomes translucent and falls apart with sogginess. 🤮

Five Guys is my go-to. It's always good.

I'm told to get the Double Double animal style with regular fries so I have a comparison for trying the animal style fries, any other suggestions?

i've never had In 'n out or Jack in the box, someone could make a fortune opening that shit in canada. Or at least have long lines for like 3 weeks until the novelty wears off like Popeyes

Ask for your burger to be cooked medium-rare, they are so much better IMO. :thumbup:

I&OB is another fast food burger, perhaps one of the better ones, but barely notable in the scheme of decent burgers. Jack in the Box sucks, you aren't missing anything.

Even Five Guys sucks, and you are spending $15 per meal at a fast food chain. I actually think Steak 'n Shake is the unsung hero of fast food burgers, but they mismanaged their chain so badly that they are basically extinct.

I've always had a fascination with regional and national chain food. I eat a lot of pizza too, and I like to try pizza everywhere I go. Also due to my business I travel a lot, so I have tried pizza and fast food chains all over the Americas. From Whataburger to Krystal I have had many shitty burgers over the years. I honestly don't think any of these fast food chains make a burger worth even talking about. Go to the bar, find some chatty locals, and get a recommendation for a good local place. There is a good chance you will find your way to a much better burger that way. Obviously it takes a bit more work. But for the record, I actually like Krystal, it's like the dumb version of White Castle that somehow just does it a little better.

Agreed.
I've stopped eating at chain fast food places, you can get better food at the Mom & Pop type restaurants for about the same price.

Where are you ending up in the west? I might recommend a few other places if it’s socal.

I would recommend you do a standard doubledouble with onions (sautéed is cool if you prefer, I like raw). Normal fries. Ask for thousand island and hot peppers. Use that thousand island sauce like hotsauce on the burger. This is coming from a family that eats In-N-Out once a week :smile:

I'm in Reseda right now at a sober living. I didn't actually go last night 😭 I wasn't feeling like fast food and ended up making a sammich and a smoothie instead. It's still on my to do list though. Maybe next weekend.

I'd love food recommendations for the valley as well as DTLA, I work right near the Vermont/Wilshire station.

Medium rare burgers is a good way to get food poisoning. Restaurant owners who understand food hygiene won't sell it to you.

With a steak once you cook the outside the inside of the meat has never been exposed to air, so it's safe to eat even if it's bloody. With a burger the whole lot gets exposed to air whilst being minced.

Sure you can get away with eating medium rare burgers, but it's a dice roll every time. You only need a dose of salmonella once and you'll realise how much the risk is not worth it.

Some things may seem like nothing for a local but people far away are intrigued.

Like how i'd like to try Canadian poutine or a Texan steak BBQ'd to perfection, you guys may want to but a whole spherical 4 lbs Gouda cheese for ten bucks or bitterballen or stroopwafels.
