How many hours a day should we give when fruiting?

For cubes? 12 on 12 off if you use lights but indirect sunlight will do just fine.

I don't know what a T5 light is. I know some people use 6500k lights. I use indirect sunlight from the window.

T5 refers to the diameter of the fluorescent tube. It's the smaller diameter bulb vs T8 and T12 which are much fatter.

12/12 is fine. 5000k to 7000k on the color spectrum is the preferred color temp.

6500K CFLs is what I use to use, but it doesn't have to be right on them, they do not need the same intensity as say cannabis for example. Ambient/indirect light will do just fine. But having the light closer, as long as it is not affecting the temp is just fine.

If you can, letting in some natural sunlight is always good.

anywhere between 12 and 24 hours of light is fine at all stages of growth. i'm not even sure if any dark period is necessary or useful. i would love to see some links to studies or grows done about light cycles and cubes.....

I would suggest a dark period, for the circadian rhythm.

What happens to a cube that does not receive a dark period?

The summary only says mushrooms recognize light/dark periods, I'm not going to pay $35 to find out if elemi mating the dark period is beneficial or not. What else you got?

I thought was was written in there would be enough for you:

"Demonstrations of circadian rhythms are widespread, and in the fungi the clock has been shown to control daily rhythms in spore development and liberation. Within the fungi,Neurospora crassa provides the preeminent model system for investigations into the underlying processes of circadian rhythms."

I got nothing else :frown:

"control(s) daily rhythms in spore development and liberation. " Okay, but in what way? Cubes mature and drop spores in the dark easily.outdoors, where I live, they get up to 15 hours of light and drop spores 24/7, night and day if the weather is good.

I found this article from one of the same authors. Not sure if this relates to pinning and fruit formation though.

Light isn't a major concern but just 12 hours on 12 hours off.

RR has some old posts stating that the light intensity does play a role in fruit development.

I started looking into this since I see pins mostly forming on the side facing my window. I have a 4.8W 470lm light bulb on the opposite side. Most of my B+ shrooms (multispore) came out quite small as well.

We're entering the dark season here, so I think I'll dig up some of my old T5 lights I used for plant propagation back in the days.

Yes RR has lots of old posts that I'm sure even he cringes at now.

Those B+ pinning on the side closest to the light has very little to do with light.

Worry about clean spawn.
Worry about proper spawn:sub ratio
Worry about sub being at field capacity
Worry about good microclimate in tub
Worry about proper surface conditions
Worry about proper FAE
Don't worry about light untill all of the above are on point. If you can see them, they will grow (cubes)
