Yea.. Almost nothing can be better than Bisporus I feel Thanks for the report Hindsight! Can't wait for my Subtrops to stop being stubborn fucks!
Also, y'all can bet your asses that I will test if Subtrops can survive winter in Central Europe, just like I did with Tamps last winter. This will give us some much-needed data for potential outdoor growing of this species.

I’ll be interested to see how they fare the winter adas! Might sacrifice some of my jars to the yard as well now that you mention it. Side note how did your tamps fare over winter? Mine didn’t make it, though we had consistent below zero F last winter, trying again though this year.

They did just fine, see my signature. The Tamp IceBreaker myc is now on an experimental agar recipe, from that it will be going to grain and I'll try to fruit it for the first time.

Ahh, thank you, I never thought to freeze plates, going to be doing that from now on to test out! I’ve just been planting outside and keeping fingers crossed come spring.

Wife and I split 5g fresh last year. That'd be what like .25g each dry? We had a full evening. Absolutely beautiful.

Burying Tamp myc outside is no good IME. I've tried like 8 times already and not a single fruit appeared. They just die outdoors for a completely unknown reason. I'd love to figure it out but they just don't stand a chance. Pan Bisporus does fine until it runs out of substrate outside, but Tamps never did anything. Just molded out/died/got eaten. I pretty much gave up

Did you sample a mature mushroom? I read they get stronger when the stipe is turning a bit peach colored. Would you say it was a lvl 1 trip, or between 0-1 or 1-2? I was thinking about starting out with a lvl 1 with these.

Yes they were all the way mature and grown outside in potting soil. Indoors I like to let them go a long time and have indeed noticed increase in potency as time goes by.

Leading edge of growth yellowing, casing chewed through, surface looking great. I think it's happening... I'm actually pretty sure I see a couple of tiny pins against the sides but can't get a good pic.
8ish days since casing

So guys, I've read the first 20+ pages and also a few back from the last: this seems to be exiting. I haven't read about a bad trip with them yet, and also lots of people consider it the "best" one. Of course this got me intrigued. Haha
Here's the question: after a successfull first cultivation with PF Tek + shoeboxes, I'm starting with agar from the next week. Do you think this would be cultivation newbie friendly enough? Would try to agar clean / transfer, incoculate grains and spawn of coir (perhaps CV, if that seems to be better). Does it takes forever to grow, as everyone was saying in the first pages? Patience is not a problem tho, I'll be experimenting with PE and B+ meanwhile.

I mean, time dilation hasn't been a big problem until now, so I may give it a try if I'm able to put my hands on a spore print. : )

What do y'all think? Cherrypick the bigger ones with the turned up caps or wait some more..

These are getting pretty close to being ready, right?

That's an awesome flush. How long since they pinned?
I'd wait more, until the stems change color, they look very white for now. At some point they'll turn "creamy" and then later on they'll start to drop spores. That's when I harvest mine.

Thanks Adas! Will try and keep my patience then. Can't wait to clone and print some of this. Only the 'big' guys are showing some colors that would indicate spores atm.
Edit: and thank you Melgo too!
Good advice guys. I'll hold my horses
