How to preserve this piece of San Pedro for later consumption?
    #27960905 - 09/21/22 03:42 PM (1 year, 4 months ago)

About 30cm middle section cutting of a San Pedro.

I don't plan to consume it sooner than summer 2023.

How can I preserve it well for until then?

Cheers

I would have said store it in a dark spot until around then, but since you cut the spines off the risk for rot is a lot higher doing that. You could still try it and check on it periodically.

I would probably either chop it up and freeze or dehydrate the pieces. If you plan on tea, freeze. If you are going to extract, dehydrate.

why did you cut the spines off?

anyway, leave it in a dry, cool and dark place till you need it. i would keep an eye on it for the first few weeks till the spine cuts dry thoroughly.

in hindsight I probably should have just cut the spines off instead of out :/

I guess I'll slice them and dehydrate them.
