All looks good so far. Just keep thousands of tiny water droplets on surface and keep going. Looks like pins soon on some spots.

I agree with Screwup. It looks so far so good. I find that placing my fruiting chamber on something a bit lower so that I can easily hold my sprayer a good 2 feet above the FC. This gives a really even distribution of coverage and keeps the water droplets from coalescing as easily. The advantage of smaller droplets is more evaporative effect at the substrate surface, which is a major pinning trigger. Full colonization is another major one so you will likely need to wait for that before seeing much.

Thanks everyone!
In case any newbs like me are wondering I used straight coir , trusted vendor genetics and spawn bag.
I had trial and error the whole way. The coir took a few times to get right. 1 eco earth brick + 2 quarts of water bucket Tek.
Finally a big part was listening to Screwup and NoCopsPlzThx and having proper surface conditions.
I think i just got lucky, aswell.

Thanks for the shoutout, my friend!
I just over sprayed on a new, new pinset and aborted a bunch of em, so we're all dealing with trial and error. I'm finding that if we're aware and taking the whole process in, there are many little incremental level-ups to be had along the way.
Notice how your surface went from fluffy webs to looking like a styrofoam cooler exploded? That's primordia! So, keep doing what you're doing! Get yourself a nicely distributed very small water particulate all over your surface, wait for evap, repeat. The evaporation aspect is what is going to make that surface keep going nuts. By the looks of it, you're getting your cycles down very nicely!!
Keep us updated, bro! I'm super stoked for you!!!

No problem, bro.
Yeah the primordia looks like craters on the moon to me and the Hyphal knots look like galaxies and stars.
Trial and error is part of the learning process. I've absorbed so much knowledge about mycology and life it's self from growin' shrooms..
Small victories.
Thanks again, bro! Good luck on your grow.
Edit: Here's an experiment I'm doing, trying to learn how to make grain spawn. Im using popcorn because I don't have a PC. I've tossed a few do to black and green mold , but this one has me stumped. It has the fastest mycelium growth I've seen , but the color has changed dramatically...
Could it be bacterial? I've already shook them. I'll geta better pic soon.

I haven't tried grain yet, so I'm not sure on that one. Wanted to wait till my agar skills were a little better first. Hopefully someone chimes in because I'm curious too!

going to guess none of it is good, popcorn is a notoriously difficult grain to work with. hard to get proper moisture & i doubt they are getting fully sterilized without a PC or excessive steaming times. probably why youβve seen so much mold growth. none of those jars look great to me but i can be hard to tell fully from pics. are you using agar to inoculate these? im guessing they are syringe straight to grain, which is also wildly unreliable

Oh well.. The main thing is I'm learning..
I only had 2 out of 12 contam, one black and the other trich. The others are looking a lot better I think. Im just not sure about the darker one. Here's how they look now.
I inoculated with agar.

Edit: I steamed them for 2-3 hrs

Edit2: sorry for all the edits. Here are the 2 that contam a few days ago.

good you used agar at least! im not really familiar with what healthy popcorn looks like so i canβt speak from any experience there, youβre just gonna have to give them a shake & let them colonize to 100% to see. if they arenβt recovering quickly after shakes itβs most likely that they are contaminated

best of luck!! i also found this thread among a few others for some more info on popcorn prep & the good & bad elements of it! i actually learned a bit searching around on it.
hey thanks!! i love plants, been meaning to update my houseplant journal. i actually donβt know what kind of cactus it is lol. my friend said it was a trichocerus but she didnβt know what kind, got it as a gift i guess. itβs literally looked the exact same as long as iβve had it. hasnβt grown, seemingly doesnβt take up or lose water lol. i have a bunch of san pedro, peyote, & hybrid seedlings though! & some PC pach & bolivian torch outside. cacti are wonderful creatures, you should absolutely get some if you can

Cool thread! I just learned about Hull split percentages and a lot more. Thanks!
Ahh. Ok. It looks just like my san Pedro I used to grow. Yeah I love cacti and mes.
I've done a few alcohol extractions with peruvian torch powder and capped up the dry tar. I need to get some more plants for sure!
