That's almost certainly Chlorophyllum molybdites, a very nasty poisonous mushroom. Get a spore print to be sure. The spore print of Chlorophyllum is grayish green.

Happy mushrooming!

It most definitely *does* grow in Oklahoma.

According to this newsletter, it's a common mushroom there. The references are on pages 9 and 10.

Where did you read that they don't? They need to be better informed. As nasty as poisoning from C. molybdites is, we need for people to not be misinformed about things like this.

Happy mushrooming!

Hey, thats kind funny that you posted that today! I was actually comming here to find info on a mushroom that I found today that looks exactly like that! I found mine in the lawn today in Florida. I thought parasol too, but that season is later here according to my field guide. I didn't get a sporeprint though. Do those have thick rings that you can move up and down on the stalk?

thats a chlorphyllum molybdite, do the spore pint...if its green than thats a confirmation, where did you find it, if it was in fairy ring formation in grass. then its definatly chlorphyllum molybdite. dont eat it, these are poisonous, not dead in small amounts, but should be avoided in all instances.this is a level "VI" poisonous mushroom.do NOT eat it. happy hunting...

Chlorophyllum molybdite, most definately, you can see the light-"pea-green" gills in the second photo.

They are toxic.
