Unit conversions are not bad with practice. It's all repetition. Concerning accuracy, I learned to do all calculations at least twice. It's just part of it. Same with significant figures, notation, all that. Patience is necessary, or otherwise willingness to check work. It can become natural, like anything, playing an instrument.
I would consider working for yourself as well. To me it is so freeing, though I haven't made it into a full time income. I've done retail arbitrage am planning to do so again. Also don't leave out your spiritual assets as there is testimony to their benefit with survival issues, like landing an enjoyable job you can live with if need be. Be at peace. Easy to say I know.
