I am releasing a new poetry book, which is available for pre-order and is already live as an e-book. It's called Ripples on an Infinite Sea. Take a look and see if you're interested: https://www.amazon.com/Ripples-Infinite-Sea-James-Heffernan/dp/1667860151/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1662427458&sr=8-1
here is a sample:
Because
One assumption always made (And one that is a little played)
Is that all existing has a cause This is the deepest of our laws
But why assume everything must? We start from nothing, turn to dust
Perhaps Nature could simply be Accomplished enough, isn’t she?
But man obsesses over one word: “Why?” And never gets an answer, only a sigh
Perhaps this prerogative is purely local And all it really is, is man being vocal
Vocal, that is, in a robotic sense Pointlessness in the present tense
What if Creation did not ascribe The meaning to being that man describes?
What if “causes” are human ideas And not philosophical panaceas?
What if, in fact, there is only infinity? In all directions, a taut sublimity

Decisions, Decisions
For some reason, it has become accepted That decisions are the children of will True will, perhaps, but this is rejected As most have not swallowed the pill
We do not decide how we decide The universe conditions that for us In necessity we must abide And to this end I implore us
To realize at once that decision making Is but one narrow function of brain And that will could emerge when taking A perspective that could lead to gain
There are multitudes of actions That do not constitute a decision Effort and intent must find traction We must approach the truth with precision
If free will only applies to Decision making and its causes Then we do not have free will, we do Have many excuses for faux-pases
We can however be willful In many other areas, it’s true There is a sense in which many of one’s actions Could not take place without you

Work
It is indeed a luxury, for all that it is worth To have a job one likes, to like to go to work But most of us out there, are not quite so lucky For most the grind, the rat race, is really rather sucky
Now the fact is that we all, are brainwashed on this front There is no fundamental need for jobs to all affront For you see the world economy is artificial Our perspective on it is only really superficial
Bucky Fuller was saying things—back in the 1950s! Like streamline, get rid of jobs, raise enough in a jiffy If Dr. Fuller was saying such things in the way back when Well, we ought to be able to streamline the thing then
If we put our heads together, we could jettison half! Half of jobs, maybe more, a good plan we could craft And people could then do the things that truly inspire Perhaps then we would not be in such a frantic mire
The best we have come up with is the dreaded UBI If we could fund it, it could work, at least so by and by But as I’ve said, all it takes is teamwork and a will And we could plan an economy that still pays the bills
Ah! but this is not how humans work, not heretofore We lack initiative and wait to the last minute, boors But I throw in with all workers, just as the retail clerk Gets up, gets dressed, gets anxious too, and says aloud, “Fuck work.”

The Nobility
It seems we’ve had the notion, of something like “nobility” It also seems that presently most don’t have much mobility
Apparently, the thing comprises talent, wealth or power Again, it seems that most of us don’t have these at this hour
Supposing, though, that such a thing as “noble” did exist It sounds as if this type of person is one one can’t resist!
I call to your attention, though, a most unwelcome fact The “nobles” were responsible to put folks on the rack
The Inquisition was about as wealthy as it gets But on the Jews before it I would not place many bets
Stalin had the power of a hundred old French kings (But I don’t think I need convince too many of such things)
Warhol was a famous, celebrated rakish craftsman Talent? I’m not sure he had any more than the draftsman
So while in theory nobility sounds nice, it’s complex Surely thousands possess its purported great and good effects
But whether nobles ever were true nobles, or just rich It seems today just everybody occupies some niche
Anyway, throwing out wealth and power, for a start And keeping talent, implying genius, would be to be smart
Maybe few are noble these days, perhaps it’s the wrong word Merit, talent, worth, value, goodness – all are blurred
And generally what happens, most follow holy dollars Those who don’t, who stay the course, are those to whom I’d holler

Your poetry crypted the mind bad, man.
Maybe try to write children's books. Parents and mother's go through children's book like a driving car goes through gas.

Unified Field
A hundred billion neurons A galaxy of intelligence Contained within a skull Or perhaps not?
The sublime connectivity Is primarily electrical Instead of a tungsten filament One has a nervous system
But that is not where the story ends Nor does complexity account for consciousness Complexity is a natural result of being Not the other way round
This electrical field is interesting Because it lives as spirit Or in other words The brain, the mind, the electricity, the awareness Are all one thing
The conscious is merged with the electric So the whole of mental consciousness Is distributed across the whole brain Every neuron, every synapse, of the one
So when we think We have access to the entire field And great circles are drawn But this is only metaphor
With effort, we make circles In a train of thought So that, one idea links with another That is related to a third, That is related to our answer
These concepts may be unrelated In principle, or superficially But the circular movement Allows us to use our brains
And the metaphor ends With the realization that The conscious electric field Has intelligently navigated a neural puzzle Circles upon circles is only an illustration
Ultimately, it is this whole field This mind field That must be the topic of discussion For the brain doesn’t compute neuron-to-neuron But rather as this individual ubiquitous field
So the brain, the electrical mind, and pure spirit Are the causal and acausal players here Any other explanation or approach Is poorly conceived

Intention
Awareness always carries intention God’s subtle and brilliant invention This truth is seldom understood Complexity is a convention
Science as yet cannot explain How intent arises inside a gross brain It wonders how matter can generate thought Truly to see it does not deign
Of course we all know the folly of this Neuroscience has all its tenets amiss Complexes of atoms do not make us see The dogma sealed with Satan’s kiss
As a matter of fact, awareness is all And intent is how we answer creation’s call We are conscious, the people and all animals No creature is really too small
But anyway, all this is not yet acknowledged Here in the West, with our dubious “knowledge” So circumstance keeps us all on the down low And we’ll send our kids off to college

The Quantum Soul
The wavefunction in superposition That makes up the awareness of one Does not have a strict position
This object and subject, when up-spun Is what we mean by soul and its mission And away from the self it can gun
In this fair treaty of extradition The soul can leave the body, hon To return to, or not, its perdition

"awareness always carries intention"
No it doesn't.
Actions have intentions. Awareness is more of a naked presence. More of surrender to moment of observation, among many ways to say of such.

The Buck Goes Up
Nature has a certain flow, a certain way for Her to go Agreeable, yes mostly so, at least in days of yore There’s nothing extra needed, nor good God to be heeded All eagle really needs is air to soar
And so the cosmos goes, we can trust it in its flows It regulates itself for all generally quite well She may be harsh, it’s true, but about that what to do? I have to think it’s difficult to tell
The point here indeed, I’ll make with due speed: Nor God nor Heaven does Mom require But this I will say: Sometimes, see, the way Is blocked – deadly deep in a mire
She can often by herself, select from her most long, wide shelf The most appropriate and rapid of her salves But here is where the scene takes on a darker sheen A solution sometimes Nature does not have
Naturally, it’s well and good, when local forces be withstood But sometimes, let’s admit, must needs ethereal You will call it luck, and I’ll say lightning struck In the end the situation’s immaterial
This lightning gets its grease from a radiating peace (At least we hope there are such realms withal) It comes to it often that there is nothing to win Unless some benefactor saves it all

An Education
There are a few, yes some, it’s true For whom schooling has worth But most would like to bid adieu To any school on Earth
The thing the system does, you see Is teach from times of old Not how to think, or see, or be But just do what you’re told

Multiversal Origins
It is legitimate to declare That it is monumentally improbable Ridiculous even That life should appear at all
And you can forget about Intelligent life If there were evidence for it It might not be so absurd to suggest it
But I suppose There is something interesting Going on Here on Earth
This improbability of life’s evolving Is wholly offset By the fact that we live In a multiverse
A multiverse is a limitless expanse Of parallel universes of every type And I mean limitless: Some physicists have said it is infinite
If not infinite, then huge beyond huge, anyway So, logically, there must be a very great number Of universes in which humans arise So: If the multiverse is real, humans must evolve
That is to say, with infinite chances There will be infinite manifestations Of humans, and wombats and rattlesnakes There are even trillions of versions of you
So, the seas part a bit Because one has to conclude That we are the organisms of one such universe Looking back and contemplating all of this—
Which in a multiverse, is perfectly necessary

Our Little Will
It’s generally thought By those who are not Competently introspective That good old “free will” Should pleasantly fill The entirety of our perspective
The thing is, you see We aren’t too free By any old reasonable measure In fact, Nature’s say Closes off the way For all truth of this popular treasure
And abandoning Nature And this entire wager There are other hard forks in the road To a great degree It’s mental debris The whole thing’s just really a load
We do have perhaps Except in mishaps Some function that one might call “will” We are beings of spirit And Nature can hear it Some capacity we can fulfill
But the fact, it remains That the subconscious deigns To drown out our little free will Abysmally trivial Pointlessly convivial When the rest of our brains we distill
It is simply a level (In which we may revel) Among levels gone quite a bit higher But just to suppose That it’s a bright rose Is to have a vain vision quite dire
So here then in sum It’s best to stay mum When it comes to convictions about The power of mind And “freedom” that’s blind That we in all truth are without
