Medical malpractice? Looking for advice
    #27933827 - 09/04/22 03:15 PM (1 year, 4 months ago)

Hello there.

Have a little situation here, looking for some feedback.

My mom was diagnosed with hodgki'ns lymphoma in about April 2021 I'd say. She went through chemo, once every two weeks for a couple hours each time, ultimately had to go for a few months.

Did all of her treatments and was essentially cancer free, had been since February or March. All her hair had grown back, everything was looking great and a few weeks ago she .. so very unexpectedly passed away in her sleep.

My dad had an autopsy done on her just to see what the actual cause was, and it came back yesterday.

2 things showed up.

Small bowel ischemia and hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease

Note, she had tests done quite often and neither of which had shown up, or at least they never told her about those issues at all. They said she was dehydrated a few times but that's it. We have her medical records. She had been on thyroid pills for years which might be related to the second thing mentioned but not 100% sure either way.

Would there be some form of malpractice? Not telling us of further underlying issues even after excessive blood work being done?

Terribly sorry to hear that your mother has passed. Heartfelt condolences brother.

Probably consulting a medical malpractice attorney would be your best option. The simple fact is that nobody here is likely knowledgeable enough about medical malpractice to offer a realistically viable answer to your question. Several unknown factors will be key to giving an informed answer to your question.  What state/country, ect. you are in will play heavily in your answer along with other variables.

Simply put, you can always sue but you can't always win.

The most important thing to do is to act quickly.  Consult four to ten prominent medical malpractice attorneys and take it from there.

I wouldn't pay any fees up front.

I would consult a malpractice attorney and try and Sue the crap out of the doctor for millions and millions of dollars as soon as possible. Being realistic though just about every doctor doesn't give a crap these days and uses as much malpractice as possible. They give you this test when you don't need it and they give you that medication when you don't need it when you do need the test and you do need the medication they don't give it to you and that's just pretty much normal these days so....

..... Good luck

Nurses are awesome. Doctors are fucking stupid totally retarded morons. When all else fails they start testing your blood pressure 25 times in a row trying to determine if something is wrong and usually when you're sitting there nervous as hell with a stupid doctor testing your blood pressure 25 times in a row your blood pressure keeps going up and up and up and up here's your heart rate keeps going up and up and up and up.

I wish you the best. And it sucks there's no way around doctors it's not like you can just see nurses because nurses can't do the things doctors do so you always got to see the doctor.

Fuck the whole medical industry. Sue those fuckers for like $25 million but expect to pay nothing but attorney fees.

A guy I work with's wife is a frivolous lawsuit attorney and he says it isn't what they owe you it's what you deserve that matters.

Essentially, you'd have to prove the doctors negligence.  Why should the doctors have known about the diseases your mom died from?  Is it standard practice to look for them and they didn't? etc. etc.
