Well theres no need to give them more then 12 hours, but it doesn't harm them in any way. I've heard of it delaying the pinning process before though. They don't realy need light for anything other then knowing wich way to grow. If you think about it they grow in the darkness naturaly outside.

I agree Magash. More light is better than less, and more intense light is better than dim light.

I use a aquarium light and its soft and has alot of light blue.
Should I also turn on my small compact fluorescent???

I hear this they only need a few minutes of light crap, and it may be true, but you will get better flushes with more light but don't go nuts.

I use the grow-lux fluorescent lights that are high in the blue spectra.
12 on and 12 off.

sadly i'm stuck with an old aquarium hood from when i had a pet turtle as a kid. i still have the red/clear bulbs in it, and most of the big plant bulbs are too big to fit in, at least the ones at petco
any ideas, roadkill, on where i could find an appropriate bulb? the hood says it's rated for 660W 250V, not sure if that would support the bigger fluorescent bulbs, but it should as far as i know
you're local so you may be able to help

Check your length of your bulb.
Then go somewhere that sells grow lights for plants...and try to find a bulb that might fit into your hood.
Or you could find a cheap hanging light fixture...and get bulbs for that.
I might have an extra hanging light fixture laying around in my workshop...if you really are local give me a pm and I just might part with it.
