Yes.


They grow as far south as Georgia where I live, and I'm fairly sure they grow in every state of the US.

Really? The only Aminita species I've seen are destroying angels. They grow every fucking where, always buy pine. But I've never seen A. Muscaria. Guess I'll have to keep an eye out for em this fall.

Amanita muscaria is not a 'deadly' mushroom. People trip on it all the time.
The deadly Amanita's you want to avoid are: A. phalloides, A. ocreata, A. verna, A. virosa, A. bisporigera and a few others. On the other hand, A. caesarea, A. calyptrata, and A. vaginata are all edible and highly prized. A. velosa, the Springtime Amanita, is apparently the sweetest amanita of all and can be found now. I can't stress enough the importance of reading up and positively id'ing Amanita's. That family holds some of the tastiest - and deadliest - mushrooms on earth!
