outside incubation
    #2793014 - 06/14/04 06:54 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

since indoors,in my room, the tempature isn't very warm,it is pretty much a constant 60-70 degrees.I've decided to place one BRF jar,and a karo jar outside, the temps go from 60-85,and i'm thinking about at night time,to place the jars inside of a jar, which would be warmer than outside cause of the constant heat all day.
How does everyone think this will do?

I wouldn't recommend putting it outside becuase it seems like it would have a better chance of getting contaminated, you'd be better off building an incubator if you could. or a simple heating pad would work for a small ammount of jars. I haven't had any experiance with putting jars outside though, so thats just an educated guess thinking the jars would be more open to the envoirnment.

but casing have already colonized substrate that can also defend itself. Jars are alot more open to contamination, at least put a coffee filter on top of the jars to help prevent contams if anything.

"Spawn runs" are good outside.
(the mycelium can defend it self as was said)
Jars are best inside.
(besides..a heatpad does get colder at night  )
