There have been major changes in the last few years, when I returned 2 years back I had a bit of a learning curve to get to know all the new methods and concepts but things have definitely progressed.

Sgfc aren't very popular anymore either, mostly water tubs now.

water tubs? I've seen some images of a setup where the shoeboxes are partially submerged in water inside a tub, is this what you're referring to?
What's up with that? just to increase humidity?
Is there a Tek link someone can share?

Agreed. I'm aiming for intensity with those few 810 Lumens and 9w lamp, so distance equals even more weakening of brightness reaching the casing

For the light don't you want to run like 5000k-6500k? I might be wrong in those numbers but I thought that was part of it. Anyway mushrooms don't need as much or react to light the way plant does so have to think in different terms not like a plant that usually wants more direct light damn moth bouncing off my screen bastards

That's really not how this works.
You can grow with minimal light on an incredibly sparse schedule.

DERRAYLD: what dosen't work in my statement?
Yes, in the limit we can grow them in the dark (they would turn out kinda albinoish), but our discussion here is to try have the most favorable conditions, in our limited spaces and resources, to help them do their beautiful thang

Wild_aussie: yes, this one is 6500Kelvin

^OLD compendium on light for fungi. That's why the top of the page says "Some of these posts are very old and might contain outdated information. You may wish to search for newer posts instead."

12 years is too old for tek here. So much has changed for the better. I recommend keeping advanced searches to 4 or 5 years in most cases. Tips on using it:
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27548683#27548683

lack of light doesn't make albino shrooms. But it does make shrooms that are undersized, weak, funky, etc.

As someone said "Shrooms are like people, both can grow in total darkness. But both will be twisted and fucked up if they grow in total darkness."

Poll from last month. The people here growing fat shrooms indoors are overwhelmingly using 6500 k lights 12 hours on / 12 hours off.
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27892271

Welcome.

Thank you for the links!
Obsolete link or not the conclusion seems to be the same: 12on/12off 6500K

There's an experiment with Golden Oysters (Pleurotus citrinopileatus) on youtube, side-by-side: light and darkness. The ones grown with light shown this exuberant yellow and were big mushs. The ones grown in darkness shown little or no pigment, elongated stems and less yield.

Intensity and the proximity of the light to the casing.

Growing them with limited light does not produce albino fruit.

I wrote a long reply, posted and it's gone. Never had that happen.

Main thing was I said that when I say "shrooms" I mean cubes, and most people here do, unless they say otherwise.

Shroomery has a bit on gourmets and non-cube psilos and pans and such, but really "shroomery" could be called "cubery" just as easily.

When cubes have elongated stems, they're often trying to reach for light that isn't there. They "think" they're under leaves or something and trying to get past it. Maybe the same with other species. I think even plants do that.

Same thing with lack of air, they get tall, reaching for air.

They're also trying to reach above whatever they "think" is blocking to get to where they can spray spores and have them spread.

We are getting to close to the letter  I said "kinda albinoish" meaning less pigment than natural light grown fruits. I know that albino is in truth a genetic condition.

Anyways, we diverge... let's get back to the beautiful daily fungal pics

Inverse square law is vastly overthinking things. Just hang a light above your shrooms and it's good.

We're not growing plants here, you don't need to penetrate canopies with light.

so far no adverse effects are proven, and as there is practically no heat, why not give them as much as easily possible?
but i agree that we are getting off topic and imo this issue will not be resolved to everybody's satisfaction?
