This is from Terence McKennas Global Perspectives recording
"Mercely Odd (?) once made a wonderful statement, he said, he was compairing our culture to a dying person. And he said in the same way that a dying person sees their whole history flash before their eyes a dying culture will frantically publish everything in one last final spasm of fear: every Egyptian text every Tibetan text every Hopi prophecy, everything will be published published published because they're looking for answers. Somewhere it has to be. Did the Tibetans know it? Did the Witoto know it? Did the Inuit know it? Who knows it? We've got to find out... and eventually they'll get around to saying 'well now what about these psychedelic people, we've been jailing them and hounding them for years, they claim they have an answer.' and they'll say, you know, 'get em get em on the line. We'll talk to anybody at this point.' Bad times lay ahead. Things are going to get worse before they get better but they're going to get better."
Some of you may have heard this before but it really struck a chord with me. It definitely looks to me that there's more books about ancient cultures read by people these days and newageism is becoming inclusive of more and more ideas from different peoples and cultures throughout history.
Slowly the realativity of culture will become apparent. And the numbers of those who cannot see its evolving body (those who see their particular cultural entry point as the only true, just, right, and God given way to live) will diminish. This is in fact well underway.
