well an update as promised:

i took a look at the quart jar my cat innoc'd a few days ago with spores and the myco threads are already starting to form en mass. i figure in a few more days, and my cat will basically have a quart of myco slurry to innoculate with. this should make colonization time of my cats rye go from a couple weeks to a couple days depending on how much my cat uses.

i recently PCed about 3 lbs of rye in 5 oven bags. this did not go as smoothly as i had hoped as two of the bags have gotten quite water logged. my cat innoculated the three bags with the proper water content yesterday, and that should start growing soon enough. and my cat plans on innoculating the two water logged bags with slurry to see if the myco can beat out any would be contams that might have a better chance due to the water logged state of the rye. more updates to come.

Everytime my friend tries rye and gets the soggy stuff in the jars they get contaminated. I always thought the stuff was bad and have seen good results on rye without all the soggy stuff and exploded berries.

I feel cheated, where can I get the stuff that makes eggs look like brains?

well the wet bags havent contamed yet, but an experiement i was doing with an empty pretzel keg is contamed. my next attempt at growing a pretzel keg will be used with a large amount myco slurry.

the pretzel keg method that i tried, and it failed due to using a spore syringe instead of grain or agar or myco slurry.

i sterilized a large amount of grain in a strainer, and then dumped it while very hot into a empty pretzel keg that was washed and then rinsed with 70 percent alcohol.
next time i will use slurry to beat out contams.

okay as the juice update: tons myco growing in there, i assume just a fe more days and i will have a quart of myco slurry to use
