Desperate Father & Husband suffering with chronic daily headaches

Hi all
Glad I came across this board and hoping you can help me out as I’m in a period of utter desperation.
I’ll keep it brief, never had headaches before in my life and am now aged 39, married with two young kids. In August 2017 I was hit with what seemed to be the flu and chest infection and left with a daily chronic tension headache. Various tests, MRIs, Bloods etc and even a lovely lumbar puncture, and no diagnosis or treatment that worked (cycled through anti-depressants, anti-seizure meds etc).
I saw Dr Mark Weatherall, Neurologist in London, who finally diagnosed New Daily Persistent Headache in April 2019.
Finally, in mid-2020 my headache dissipated, and I have had the absolute joy of 18+ months being pain free. That was until I was struck down by what I think was the a foreign virus again in early February 2022 that has reactivated my awful daily headaches.
I’ve had Covid twice, both vaccines and many colds etc that haven’t reactivated/triggered my headaches, but the flu or another evil type of virus does.
I’ve had all the usual tests (blood work, MRI etc) and they’re negative which is good, and bad. I’ve tried MDNA (used a lot as a raver) which had no effect and now I’m keen to try mushrooms or truffles given the huge relief they can have for chronic headache and cluster headache sufferers.
I would be sooo grateful if any members could support me with obtaining these and providing advice on what to dose with first. I can’t face the thought of 3 more years or more of chronic daily headaches and I’m willing to try anything.
Thank you Greg

Hey, I'm so sorry you're enduring such awful headaches, it sounds unbearable. Many people do find that migraines and cluster headaches are effectively treated with low doses of psilocybin, so this could well be worth pursuing if you've exhausted more conventional options. A typical therapeutic dose is around 1g dry p. cubensis mushrooms, but could be as low as 0.25g or as much as 3g. This is repeated when necessary, but in some people a single dose can control headaches for months.
The Shroomery is not a hook-up site and we don't allow any kind of drug sourcing on these forums, so nobody will be able to supply you with mushrooms, just to make that clear. But some places do offer legal or gray-market access to mushrooms or sclerotia, like Canada, the Netherlands, Ann Arbor MI, Denver CO, Oakland CA, and Seattle WA. If you are near one of these locations you might be able to find a legitimate source on the open market. Otherwise, mushrooms are relatively quick, easy, and cheap to grow yourself, and if you get started now you can have your first batch in about 3 months. Bod's Easy AF cheapest way to get started TEK is (as the title suggests) a good place to get started, and there are plenty of people on these forums to help if you get stuck along the way. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you are able to find effective relief!

I also had persistent daily headaches which appeared around 40 years old and were not able to be diagnosed with all of the tests that you went through Greg.
My solution finally after more than a year of hammering headaches and endless medical bills was found through an ENT specialist, the third one I had been to see. He found inflammation in my sinus and with an operation the pain was removed. It was not a pleasant procedure, but it was worth it.
If you haven't thoroughly explored the possibility of the headaches being sinus related I would encourage you to do so.
Best of luck.

Hi Greg, In addition to the informative posts here, would like to inquire if you've had your living/work space checked for mold?
Any of your other housemates exhibiting new or unexplained symptoms?
One thing I've experienced in my own health journey, is the going gets rough right before breakthrough. Even when all seems fruitless, the answer is out there. That chronic sensation of utter frustration can evolve into elation once the resolution is achieved. How is your support system?
Wishing you wellness. Please update us if you microdose!

i've seen a min documentary on people who have suicide headaches and they had good results with the use of psilocybe cubensis as a microdose. Several people said it changed their quality of life.

I haven't had reoccurring headaches from viruses, I used to get a lot of migraines mostly when I was younger. I did get injured from the pfizer vax, basically symptoms identical to long-covid and every time I get sick now, especially with covid, all the symptoms flare up. My right hand, wrist, and knuckles have been swelling up worse and worse over the last month after getting Omicron. I have arthritis, mostly hips and knees, and I'm only 33. I guess "long-covid" can technically happen after many different viral infections. I remember having severe brain fog and some DPDR after getting a bad case of strep throat when I was like 13. I've also read that covid-19 can reactivate Epstein-Barr virus. There seems to be some link between these viruses, long-covid, Lyme disease, and MS. That being said, have you tried shoulder and neck stretches or massages? We carry a lot of tension in our shoulders and the can cause headaches.
