The first plant of my collection several years ago was an Enchinocereus from the patch pictured; the plants grow on both my family's property and my neighbor's. The original was uprooted by some animal and probably would have died if I didn't pick it up. Keeping it alive and actually getting it to grow re-kindled my interest in cactus. My greenhouse is only a few hundred feet away so the plants might still be pollinated with the patch naturally. Sometimes I check up on the patch and found one plant uprooted today and wilting; said plant was replanted and it should root in the next good rain. Perhaps if I grow enough of them, I'll be able to plant new patches in the wild. ^_^
150 years ago, a railroad was built and the creek was probably a small stream.
Echinocereus Reichenbachii is native to Texas and they sometimes turn up on market sites due to construction and land clearing if someone knows what they are and their value. I regret not having the $$ to buy several huge wild specimens that turned up due to construction ~2-3 years ago. This is the only Enchinocereus I grow so that the local genetics aren't contaminated.
Went for pollen today and pollinated most of them while I was up there. I think they spread by ants eating the pulp and carrying seeds around.

Damn, Nick. The Aloe and Schlumbergera flowers look really wild.
We have turmeric flowers coming up at the moment.

Five weeks later, the tree is full of pods.

This Astrophytum ornatum has been blooming for weeks now.

Zifo, the Anadenanthera has been in the ground since June 2019 and was probably around six months to a year old at that time. It has bloomed very heavily last year and had a few pods set on the tree, but lost them all to a hurricane. As of now, there are at least fifty pods starting to form and I am going to be diligent about watching them. The tree is at least five meters tall and thriving in our subtropical climate.
I do not have any Mimosa hostilis, but was just thinking this morning about ordering some seed while I was in the park.
