It was found in a Botanical garden in NY, and there was quite a few cannabis looking plants. I didnt find any mushrooms growing throughout the whole park though, I was looking for some form of mycorrhizal growth though. I did see quite a few butterflies

Seems to me that Papaver somniferum is fairly commonly cultivated at Botanical gardens around the USA.

I stumbled upon these at the Dallas Arboretum last May...

The last pic is blurry because I didn't take time to focus (too excited over this find...)
is it ethical to harvest pods from a public garden? hmmm.

Nice! Down in philly I saw a bunch of Angel trumpets. That made my day. Sure its ethical as long as you leave most of them. It is a public garden after all.

I'm sure they have rules about harvesting their plants.

It's not against the rules if nobody notices. It should be against the rules to let anything with such talents go to waste.

Not cool to harvest from public gardens- not even if it is fun to snatch a handfull of pods- it IS however ethical to harvest from your elderly neighbors ornamental garden at the end of every season...! Nah- but they are easy enough to grow- lovely pics and a nice example of the selectivity of laws regarding poppy cultivation in America.

I personaly wouldnt think it be bad taking a pod. It would be however wrong for a person to cut the whole section down. A public garden is there for the public it is like a seed bank for those that love plants.
Maybe I guess I am a plant terorist. When I go to an arboritum I go prepared with snips, wet paper towels, and plastic baggies. I figure if some one collected them why cant I on my own minni safari. The whole bassis of this is on people taking plants from there homes and moving them to be viewn easily. I feel it is part of the hobbie. Not its decay.
