I've been hunting here for about 25 years. Actives are pretty scarce here, but edibles we do pretty good with.

Scarce enough that you're pretty unlikely to find them. The majority of active species I've seen are in small quantities (like 1 or 2 small mushrooms) and tend towards relatively obscure species that probably aren't worth the effort.

If you want to find active mushrooms you need to move to the gulf coast or pacific northwest.
