It looks awesome but it isn't going to happen.
An no, not even remotely survivable. Airplanes make bad boats. Ground effect planes have had some potential for heavy lift but it makes zero sense for commercial travel. More drag, slower speed, higher fuel consumption, and it only works in areas with a major water body.
That's a big nope. We can barely operate Amtrak (though I rather like it).

I saw some news the other day and lost it. But as far as climate change is concerned, Florida is slowly losing home owners insurance access as weather patterns further demolish it. That is resulting in a bit of crisis because these homes are just getting left as they are damaged and home owners can't afford to fix them.
RIP all the states nearby as Floridians migrate. We should build a wall, it could be a combination flood wall and keep Floridians out.

Totally missing the point. Crashes will be commonplace on those. Also, it's limited to coastal travel.

I agree that it is unlikely to be more than a novelty form of transportation. I imagine they'll have a similar market to cigar boats and the like.

Sail boats with hydrofoils already exist as do airplanes with floats. There is no reason for that product to exist.

It allegedly goes fast at high efficiency with zero emissions. I'm not aware of any boats or planes with the same capability available to consumers
To be clear, I'm not endorsing these things, I just thought they were a potentially neat way to eliminate some jet travel in certain places

Yes very much so.

This is how we know climate change is real and indisputable. Insurance premiums. Capitalism ain't gonna leave money on the table.

Why not just use hydrofoil boats? Meteors. We've had those for a very long time. They're all over the place in Russia. I was riding passenger hydrofoils that were already old in the 90s.

Yep my home insurance went up 27% this year and I'm not even in a flood zone, and I'm one of the luckier ones.

You're subsidizing the houses in the flood zone.
Something similar happened when the NC GOP banned using predictive models for insurance purposes, because the Outer Banks were eroding so fast. They simply made it illegal to factor in changes in climate when underwriting.
So, insurance premiums went up for everyone to account for the increased risk of a few people, and now they're slowly just pulling out and refusing to insure properties.

All I know is people in flood zones are going to need to move out asap. Before they meet the same fate as Puerto Rico and Florida.

No, I am far better than okay. I would even go so far as to say I'm adequate.

Implying there’s anything to be done.
God could come to earth and give us plans for a fusion reactor and we would still destroy the ecosystem simply by extracting the resources necessary to build them.

That's a half-empty way of looking at things my friend. Not to say that you are wrong. I still have hope for humanity. I personally believe that if we were so terrible the 'aliens' would have eliminated us already.

That's one way of looking at it. Perhaps we are just a part of nature, and we are actually in some kind of equilibrium that we fail to recognize. I believe it's all a cycle. Time will tell how things develop.

Ultimately, humans don't matter. We're here temporarily. Many species have come before and many will come after. Eventually, all life on this planet will burn in the sun.
And not a single fuck will be given by the universe.
