9/19 UPDATE:
Hi, all! We noticed today our temp/humidity gauge was broken, so we put a new one in. Worried now that we haven't had as high of humidity as we thought (~95%) as the new one reads 91%! Any tips for raising that would be appreciated -- we don't have perlite but maybe some coir or verm at the bottom would help? π₯΄
On the exciting side of things, we believe we have spotted our first pin!! (Circled below, haha) Woo!

Mazel tov!!!
91%RH is more than enough. RH doesn't really matter anyway. Surface conditions is what it's all about

There is no need to modify lids when using ziploc twist. You just unscrew lids for 3/4 of an inch during PC.
See Muda's comment:
Quote:
Step 6 put on your lids. for Ziplocs I use an un modified lid. I simply unscrew it roughlt 3/4 of an inch to alow for gas exchange.
Violet is also using unmodified ziploc twist as well. See PODS TEK.
unmodified lids come with some advantages: - No need for aluminium foil - Circular pattern of threads prevents contamination - Easy to control FAE - Invitro

True! Since this was our first time, we got overloaded with info and had trouble deciding what to do and what not to do π

09/22 UPDATE:
Hi, everyone! We have a few pins!! The B+ in the middle was the first to show any pins, but the Oak Ridge next to it has taken off! I think there are 10 to 12 pins in the Oak Ridge and 4 or 5 in the B+. No signs on the others yet, but they are about four days behind the two that have pins now. We've been worried about enough FAE but are probably prematurely worrying, haha.

All the bottles / B+ / Oak Ridge

09/23 UPDATE:
So, we feel very silly as we thought everything might be stalling, and then realized today that we haven't been looking at the sides of the bottles! There are TONS of side pins on each one we can see! This is normal, right? They'll eventually push through up to the top? π€
All bottles this morning, and side pins of B+, then the other two are Golden Teacher

My bet is that most of those pins abort when they are still very tiny and give way to surface pins.

Yeah, that makes sense... So our surface conditions should still be alright? π¬ We thought they were maybe too wet; now I'm hoping they aren't too dry π

I can still see plenty of tiny water droplets on the surface. Pretty sure you're good.
FAE could be slightly higher though. Maybe remove the bottom strip of tape off a couple of holes

My husband suggested that, haha! We don't have perlite... And our tub is technically a monotub, not a SGFC. π So we'd have to switch a lot stuff around!

π Thank you! We noticed a lot of the myc is starting to bruise, too, so we cracked the lid and ran a fan in the room (not directly on them) for a while yesterday. And I took off the bottom strips of tape from two of the holes this morning (after I took the photo below)!
 1) All the bottles this morning; 2) the Oak Ridge with all the pins! Not too worried about this one βΊοΈ; 3) the B+ with a few pins (now 6, I think); 4) another B+ with its first pin!; 5) possible bruising, we think π€ it's hard to see in the photo...

09/28/22 UPDATE:
Nothing too crazy going on, but ten out of the 14 bottles have at least one top pin now! Woo!
All bottles, then two Oak Ridges, two Golden Teachers, and four B+s.
