I had considered that.. so it could still jump off, it might be taking a minute to "wake up"
I have a feeling that a fresh plate would have jumped off by now..
It's still early, but last night I could already see the mycelium on the nutrient agar reaching out toward the grain.. I couldn't see any change in the WA jars.
I'll post a couple pictures later today

Cross post from Official Pan Thread:
Cloned to water agar. Took tissue from inside the caps and also dropped almost a whole cap as well. Cut off and placed with non-sterile scissors. Let's see how forgiving WA is.

Knowing what that would create on normal agar made me wince at those photos Baba
The few wedges I took to grains definitely took longer for leap off. Like a few days for gourmet species which I usually would have shaken by then.
They also took a little while to pop in LC. After about a week or so both the cloudy WA wedge and the normal looking wedge both look fine. No cloudiness that I can see. Will update with photos in the next day or so.

WA vs MYA- side by side inoculation:
The WA plates are finally starting to jump off to the grain a little bit.. they are definitely running a few days behind the jars that were inoculated using nutrient agar.. like I said in a previous post, this could be due to the age of the plates.. it is a possibility that the mycelium was in a dormant state, due to the fact that they're around 3 months old.. I still plan to run another test with fresh plates to see if the results differ from this batch.
Enigma (WA)
Phobos (WA)
Phobos (MYA)

I'll update with some pre-shake pictures in a few days.

This is my first time trying this, made a transfer from T4 plate, and this is my growth in ~4 days. How does it look, for comparison other transfer to MEA also.

WA vs MYA jar update- pre-shake Enigma- WA to grain:
Phobos- WA to grain:

Phobos- MYA to grain:

The MYA plate was overgrown, so I'm not 100% that it was completely clean... time will tell

Will myc outrun a white mold on water agar? I have 3 cultivars heavily contaminated with a with a white mold. This contam has never pinned or turned another color. When I accidentally plated it, growth is very slow. Mixed with myc it seems to spread much faster. Now I have a 10x jewelers loop and I hopefully won't be cultivating pure mold anymore. No pics because my smartphone camera focuses on the deli cup lid and the agar is blurry.

Mold will also win on water agar. IMO josex poke your best bet here.

It works.. I propagated a cool looking bag shroom via spores.
Sprinkle yielded a dozen contams, mycelium outgrew
Light scrape with a loop yielded no contams. Hard to see the myc though

Yep, I tried germinating some AA+, P. mexicana and P. subtropicalis on WA. So far only AA+ has germinated but here is day 6 of growth.

I'm excited to do 2 experiments. WA germ plate -> LC via Josex Poke tek and to see how T1 looks one an LME plate. Results will come in soon, probably transfer tonight.

feel like I gotta say it, was excited, tried it with several outdoor clones, and I donโt think Iโll continue with water agar. Hides contamns too well. But keep doing what works for you guys.

Like how so? Have you had problems with molds, bacteria or both?

I think WA is just good for getting away from bacteria. Molds are still gonna grow on it.
Outdoor clone I'd say goto nutritional plate first, isolate the mycelium you want then goto WA to get away from bacteria, then back to nutritional plate.

Gotcha, had mold in WA awhile back, and yes it filled the plate really quick, and just made transfers from WA to but agar last night, and got bacteria that I couldnโt see on the WA. Iโve beat mold a few times on regular agar, and the cyan group beats bacteria every time. But it grows so slow on the water agar. Iโve done open air transfers from shitake spawn thatโs been sitting out for weeks to mea and it only took a transfer or two to get that cleaned up. Iโm not trying to say it doesnโt have a place. Just trying to learn what I can.
Hereโs a couple plates of azzie and allenii that grow past bacteria

IME growth on water agar is quite fast. The myc feeds on the little nutes from the transfer piece and "runs" looking for more food
