Pans Cyans and Hawaiians.......Same Thing?

I know someone who ordered two spore syringes one is labeled pans cyans and one is labeled hawaiians. Through reading here I have found some sources claiming that these are the same thing. Is this true? Also This would be his first time to grow, I feel that he started with the wrong spores. They seem to be more for the advanced cultivator. What are your thoughts on this?

I know that they call Panaeolus Cyanescens "hawaiians" on the dutch market, so they are the same. They come from Australia, Cambodia, Florida or Jamaica as far as the strain names tell me, but why they call them Hawaiians, I dont know...A Panaeolus Tropicalis strain is from Hawaii I think, which is a similar species I think. I also dont know if any other species really is from hawaii, I mean any cubensis strain. Many people say they are a little bit harder to grow for the inexperienced grower and I agree because you have a little more to do and they need a little more attention. But you might succeed though, who knows..? If it were me, I would start with a cubensis strain because there are many easy ways to do it and you will be satisfied! I used the cake method first but the method on mushmush.nl is very good and easy and I had more mushrooms with that. (4x 1 liter trays gave me 35x2.5 grams dry! I was happy!) go look under methods there but there are lots of methods here too of course..

Do you have an exact list of what he would need to do this? I have tried to help him compile a list but every tek I read calls for different things. Also the best tek you've seen for the cyans would be a big help.

I've found the Hawaiians to be incredibly easy to grow thus far... out of the 12 jars I started on 5/29, 5 are now in the fruiting chamber and pinning, and the others are almost ready to go in. But I guess I won't know if I'm doing everything 100% correct until they fruit... so we'll see.

I think you guys are a little confused. If you buy hawaiian spores from a vendor, they are cubes. Quite possibly the same as golden teachers. there may be a strain of pan cyans called that but that's not what you're looking at if you got them from a shroomery vendor. Kind of like blue meanies. Somehow the name got applied to differnt species so you have to know which you're talking about.

The spores came from buzzgrower.com. this is the information they give
Panaeolus Cyanescens
$25.00 per syringe. Includes Shipping! Panaeolus Cyanescens These small shrooms are reported to be one of the most potent strain on earth! Also printed from wild specimins by Ozmon in Florida. These shrooms are small and light brown colored. More for the advanced cultivator.
Hawaiian $25.00 per syringe. Includes shipping! No information.

The Hawaiians were ordered simply because this guy has had them before and wanted the same experience. The Pans Cyans were a dabble into the unknown.

pans are much harder to grow than cubes - they take a little more experience. grow the spores you have and if you are successfull be happy. are you growing these indoor or outdoor ?

He would be growing them indoor. Has no clue where to begin if in fact they are "much harder" to grow than cubes.

They are harder to hrow, but not much harder. They require more air exchanges at the fruiting stage. There are several teks and tips here: http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23954

For me it looks like that the Hawaiian
from the Site should be Cubensis.
