My san pedros don't seem to mind temps down to about -5 celsius (in pots outside, not in the ground)

im sure they will be fine. i mean do what you can to put them in a warmer spot even beside teh house or you can cover them with a blanket. that will keep off the frost, and that what us way up northers do to our wholegardens. aswell as most cactus's live in desserts were it can get pretty cold. like 1 C and aroudn there.
better safe tehn sorry. peace

It probably wont come to it, but blankets and lights (plz be safe) make a nice little heating tent too. I once had a collumnar of mine split right in half cause it got rained and THEN froze. (although I really doubt it was as hardy as a trich) good luck man

neither psychotria or caapi will survive to temps below 5-10?c, peyote probably could survive to 0? but needs to be dormant and its soil completely dry.

For your Trichocereus cacti, the sides of the cactus don't damage easily from freezing. Simply place large styrofoam cups over the tips. That's all that is necessary to protect against freeze damage. Blankets are not needed, and will snag on the spines. Keep the moisture off the roots. Use plastic sheeting or upside-down garbage cans to shelter them.

hi club! i will add this interesting note: i have a couple psychotria carthaginensis and they are alive after many 4C nights and 15C daytime... YH: are styrofoam cups those soft ones (you can 'compress' it's 'walls' thinner), like polyurethane?

felix-- Yes, we call it styrofoam here in the USA. White in color, crumbles easily when smashed. Cups are made from it, also old ice chests, and computers used to be packed in styrofoam inserts.
