I hope some plastics company picks up on how these containers are being used and designs one model specifically for agar, with an even clearer top and dimensions similar to Petris.
Thank again for these Mr. alien, they have made cultivation way more enjoyable for me.

Glad you guys like them! I personally love them. Yeah, a PP6 plastic HG version would be perfect for visibility. PP6 is also autoclavable and much clearer than pp5.

I tried to order from "wholesalesuppliesplus" but the paypal payment got hung up and the order wouldn't process. Freaked me out a little as I'm not sure about their legitimacy. Anyone else order from these folks before?
btw... I'm a holy grail container fan for realz...
Strange about your payment issue. I personally used a credit card without any problems, super fast shipping too. If that doesnβt work for you, the 20-pack is back in stock for $13 on Amazon.
Cool. Iβll check it out again. Thanks for the feedback.

Finally re-prepped my agar plates after screwing them up the first time by pouring them to thin. Made Mr. Alien's Holy Grail Plates! Some have no condensation straight off the bat, and then there's some with very little condensation, and then the rest have heavy condensation. Came out exactly as the tek said it would. Can't wait to start getting back into agar work to grow more of these novelty varieties!!!
P.S. - I never experienced this before when making agar, but one of my agar plates seemed to expand and gain volume after PC'ing... it became a very thick plate and gained a lot more volume and height, does that usually happen? Or could it of gained some more water from the condensation of the lid causing it to become thicker...? Never seen that or happen to me before... I only poured it about halfway thick, and after I took it out of the PC it basically expanded and grew a lot more thicker than I had poured it, nearly touching the top of the lid. I've never seen or had this happen before. Any ideas what might of happened? Anyway, after prepping all the agar all over again, behold Mr. Alien's Holy Grail No Pour Plates!!!

I assume they will be a pain to pour since you need to screw the tops, i do no-pour cause I'm shaky af. I assume 15min or less should be enough to sterilize but i never tried it.

Testimonial.
First read about HGs a while back and picked up a ton of benecrauts before taking a break from mycology. Fast forward to now and decided to jump back in with HGs.
Started by testing plate integrity at normal psi temps (15psi for 1hr; no issues) then used a simple MEA recipe (2.5:2.5:250mL ME/Agar/Water) and poured approximately 12 plates that fit into wide mouth pint jars w/ plastic lids (4 plates per jar), PCed in standard instant pot for 1hr (wanted to see if IP can be used to properly sterilize Agar).
All plates had a lot of condensation following cook and even after doing an insulated plate stack, so sacrificed 8 plates to test various techniques that facilitate reducing condensation with normal plates, to include cracking plates 1/4" and placing them upside down in an incubator and drying oven, as well as a dehydrator @ 95-125F. While they did clear up quite quickly, they re-condensated almost immediately when removed from heating, which was extremely disappointing; almost called it quits right there.
However, still had the remaining 4 plates and decided to try and let them air dry on their own before giving up. Two plates were left fully closed, two cracked 1/8-1/4". 1/4" cracked plates cleared up and dried rather nicely within 7 days, while the fully closed lids are at still at approximate 80% clear, but still more wet than preferred. Now at 2 weeks in, no signs of contam in any of the plates stored/dried in an open area with lots of traffic.
Introduced some old GT spores to a plate with higher condensation in open air to test spore quality and how they would tolerate the plates, while also testing up see how susceptible the plates would be to contam outside of an SAB. Plate was fully closed during the entire process, with germination occurring in ~5 days and no indications of contam post inoculation after 2 weeks.
Tek is definitely a game changer and the best for visibility in no-pour teks tested to date. For those in high humidity climates, it definitely helped to let them air dry on their own. Did notice slower and more whispy (weak, slow rhizomorphic) growth compared to modded lids, so will definitely test cracking the lids for the next batch. Also had 1 lid deform (slight implosion), but plate still functional.
Look forward to testing next batch with natalensis.

I've had more than a handful of plates warp after countless PC cycles. Not one has ceased to function just fine, however.

yea they still work, I think it was because I had them stacked perfectly on top of each other and must have caused some sort of vacuum action or something because they warped together, so one is a bowl shape and the other one is pimple shape haha

I have the same thing happen. I find that ensuring the lids are cracked a good 1/4 turn each helps prevent the vacuum warping.

Anyone have a good source for these currently? I bought 20 and love them, but for the past couple of months they've been out of stock at all of the different links.

I got THESE... Haven't used them yet. I'll check back tomorrow or the next day and tell you guys how the PC cycle goes.
Edit:. They are a little smaller, but they do have the OG's at the same link above. Just really expensive!!!

Not sure what it is with me, but I keep getting bacteria around the perimeter when I do this, and I can't figure out why. Part of me thinks it's something like dirty air being sucked into the petris as they cool maybe? That's why I used to just let them stay in the PC overnight but I'm just following directions to wait an hour after hitting 0 psi. Other people dont seem to be having this issue though, or I haven't seen it at least.

In my case, that issue was caused by mites. They can crawl freely in and out of the HG containers.
