Not sure if this is a dumb question
    #27870503 - 07/20/22 03:42 PM (2 years, 5 months ago)

I can’t seem to find the right info or I am just not searching well enough..
Should I cut these off and try for a second flush or let them grow more? It’s been about a week since this pinset

Corumba strain

Also these cakes have a bunch of blobs on them . Please let me know if you need better pics.

Roatan strain

The Roatan tub I have is also showing some blobs but they are more mycelium looking not as stem blob things if that helps.

Thanks guys

If it's fluffy blobs you need a little more
FAE

I'd let those fruits grow more till the veil
starts to tear open

In the first picture the cake looks dry to me.  If those shrooms need water they probably won't get any bigger

Should dunk cakes before fruiting them like this.

Thank you guysvfor the direction!! I had dunked them maybe just not long enough, Can i pour some water on the dry cakes or just dunk them with the pins on them. I think that would cause them to rot, is that correct? For the blobish cakes should i just make the opening on the water tub bigger, or fan them a bitmore each day.

Dont dunk with pins on. Fanning isn't
necessary and is probably drying them
out more. Passive FAE is all you need.

Might be best to pick and dry the pins
dunk everything, they'll bruise but
dont worry. Then roll them in verm, put
back in the chamber, and just adjust
the opening. Maintain surface conditions
with misting from high up.

I don't do cakes so wait for some more
opinions here too

Dunking with pins isn't really an issue, but from the look of them I doubt they'll grow much more anyway. So yea dunk them and your choice on whether to leave and see or pick

Another trick is bottom water, little foil cups qt bottom after pinset comes in since cakes only hold so much water. Let water fully absorb before refilling.

Rest of rumfor I agree with.

Alright werd! What about a coir casing or is that too risky since they are older cakes. ?

You can roll them in coir or bury
them in some prepared coir. Better
than just verm really. I think I've
read a few people prefer burying them
in a little shoebox tub with coir rather
than just fruiting them as cakes.

Imo verm roll is enough, I never messed with casing cakes. I think there's a writeup on it if you really wanna try, but I think there was a reason for the casing, like exotics or something iirc.

I had no luck with burying in coir. Direct contact made the cakes try to colonize it and produced less. Im not saying it won't work, but i wasn't happy with it.

Not saying you're wrong. Stands to reason casing would work, I just never tried it and got good results with verm roll.

Back in the day I used to use peat to case and also had great results from Pf cakes

I have one of the cakes in water in the chamber. I saw the tek. The other cakes that I soaked are pushing out the pins I missed cleaning them up they are much heavier than when I put them in to dunk.

I buried PE cakes in manure and straw once.. results were ok.  The sub basically fell apart when I tried picking it up.  I concluded it probably woulda went better had I grated them.  They were new cakes tho

Lotta variables in production times.
Nutrients, water, climate, genetics,
sterility, and even just plain luck.

My experience is with grain and I've
always seen that once I g2g a master
jar to receiving jars, it's 7-8 weeks
for ready to go product.

That’s about right for this grow. I Nocced up everything June 13 the heat has been raising the temps in the grow. Average is about 78-79 degrees. I think I need better air flow as well

That's why I like tubs with holes. Pasty's
Ezdial Tub tek design if you make too many
holes or conditions change you can just
put a piece of tape on a hole. Dial em
right in perfectly per tub.

Having a grow room with stable conditions
is ideal. An 1800 watt temperature/humidity
controller, anolog or poweroutage memory
5,000btu window ac unit, anolog ultra sonic
humidifier.

The controller will turn things on and off
accordingly and prevent up and down
conditions that create a withdrawalling
effect on the tubs. Cooler humid conditions
allows for more moisture to stay on/in
surfaces.

I will look into the tub tek. The ax and room temp controller sound nice but I’m sure it’s a pricey investment. I am rich with knowledge and useless facts. Poor with money.. hahah:lahey:

I think the heat wave is nearing an end so we should stabilize soon here. I was able to keep my places temp dialed in with certain windows open

Yes pricey. Idk if I commented this in this thread(sry if repeating) but as long as your Temps are over 65-70 and you get a tub dialed where you like for humidity and fae balance, you can have bad ass grows. Dont feel like you have to have perfect Temps and humidity control for cubes.

Having that much control is like owning a high end sports car, sure its nice but a 1000 dollar sedan will get you to the same places.

5,000btu madea ac unit - $180

1,800 watt temp/humidity controller - ~$50

Small room ultrasonic humidifier- ~$50

1,500 watt small room electric heater -~$50

Year round perfect control. But yeah it's
not all that necessary to do this.

Id give them a few more hours, maybe tomorrow morning. I like to wait till the edges of the caps start to unfurl away from stipes. Sometimes the veil's weak and rips while you can still get a little more growth.

Glad your cakes are doing well on the 2nd flush.

Should I have cleaned this sub off completely? I did the floating tek so it’s definitely wet now.

And those cakes on the second flush.

So I have been air drying these the are crunchy in like 2-3 days. Is this okay? There is a TON of mixed info on air drying. Once dry they go into a mason jar with a lid that is not full of holes.

I just thought this up. Let me know if it’s stupid. But.. could I place them fresh mush in a bowl with dry rice? Would that help then dry better. Like a wet cellphone type deal

The keys are heat and moving air. A dehydrator is really the best and they cost about 30-40 bucks for a cheap one.

When it takes a long time, or doesn't dry completely, you risk losing some potency or even rot/mold. It also makes accurate dosage harder cause you have unknown water weight added to shrooms that aren't totally dry. A dry shroom should snap like a cracker with pressure and have 0 bend to them. If they bend at all before breaking they aren't dry.

Storage for dry shrooms only requires something air tight like a jar or zip lock bags. Some like to add a desiccant pack for peace of mind, but not required.

Gimmicks like rice and desiccant for drying are not effective.

Hahah I thought the rice idea seemed whack. I’ll have to pick up a dehydrator today. I appreciate the tip. !!

This may sound crazy and I kind am kicking myself but I guess we will see. So I air dried everything and store them in a glass jar weeks ago. They weren’t exactly crack or dry, but they seem very dry to me. I open the jar and there’s still mushy so now I’m dehydrated them in a food dehydrator would this affect the potency? Please don’t tell me I should’ve dehydrated them to begin with. I know I know I just couldn’t come buy a dehydrator at the time.
