This is what my plates have been looking like. I think it might be the charcoal. I’m pouring new agar, no charcoal, and trying again.

100% agree with this in that it should be the new starting point for aspiring cultivators for 3 main reasons. 1. Its a very forgiving species both in intoxication and cultivation, gives a new cultivator time to learn sterile technique while it devour contams pushing out flushes in respose.
2. Its a genetic warehouse full of new things to be found and developed encouraging new cultivators to try new things and see results.
3. Patience, this species will certainly teach one to be patient and wait things out.
Also, cultivating these is very artistic in a way that ive never experienced with other species, if that dont grab ones interest idk, this prolly aint the hobby you're looking for.... move along.

I think soon for shits n giggles (and to appease the redit crowd) i might knock up some fruity pebbles and case with orbeez just to show how crazy these things are!

I’m having this exact experience. The charcoal plates look beautiful, but I’m probably done using them.

These are Natalensis plates started on 7/11/22 from a spore print (Thanks Mycelium Juice!). So, that's eight days ago and most plates are showing at least a little growth, and some are doing quite well I think. No contaminants, which is awesome. You can see some plates I dropped a lot of spores, and some plates the spores aren't visible except the mycelium lets me know they made it.

My NAT2 culture is interesting. It produced my first blob (EVER), and my first Nat Green Snake!

I'm currently cloning the snake. I've printed it too for good measure. It weighed 12g so pretty decent. After printing the cap was even more green and this was one of those moments where I had to try REALLY hard not to impulse-consume the cap, it looked so beautiful! I should be testing it shortly. Let's hope they are as potent as people say!

Another spot on same brf cake i posted yesterday, shits ready to blast off! 3 outta the 7 from that set are all pinning now, i had one that i covered in jiffy as an experiment (in the microchamber, barely covering the top). Getting hyped... the older set i had made, the ones i peeled half of the tissue layer which had encased them invitro... well the ones i peeled not looking like they will recover v.v,

What kind of lighting are you using indoors? I’ve started keeping my Nat shoeboxes in a sun room and the fruits have gotten larger and with thicker stipes. Nothing like that monster though.

I use LED lights in 12/12 format. Unfortunately, there is nowhere in my house where I can leave my mushrooms close to natural light, it's just not discreet

anyone else micro dose fresh?
I do and nats are much more bitter than cubes. To me cubes are pretty close in taste to regular mushrooms but these nats are bitter!
On a micro note: That one hit a little stronger than normal, plus I had a nice little glow effect =D

I've microdosed nats fresh, didn't notice much difference in taste, them and cubes never bother me as far as that. Technically what I do is more of a mini dose than micro I guess, usually 5-7g fresh.
Just put 5g dried nats down the hatch with some lemon juice, and it's a beautiful day outside so we'll see how that goes!
