Well yeah there's definitely a reason I haven't gone back to a SAB, lol.. Just jealous of how bulletproof they are I guess, you'll never have 'SAB-failure' that's been causing your contams, in other words. Just as an example, in the last 6 months I've experienced holes in filters as well as them becoming subtly unhinged/unseated, allowing air to escape prior to being filtered, and thus not flowing or filtering properly (deadspots, etc). It took me awhile to figure out what was going on. At least with a SAB, you don't have to worry about anything like that ever.

Sure

Yes the stir works and the temperature probe reads but when it senses the temperature probe it shows two decimal points I’m not sure how to get it to a desired temperature and hold it there. I was hoping somebody with laboratory experience has worked with these in the past and could give me some insight

I've been wanting a good torch for a while.. I tried an alcohol lamp, but it was horrible, the 2 test runs I did with it had tons of bacterial contam issues, and it was always right where my blade went.. even my cooling plate had bacteria all over the spots where I cooled the blade...

So I've been using a tiny butane torch that I have to re-light before every use..

I'll be able to make my SAB work a lot smoother with this thing.. and it was actually a bit cheaper than I thought.. I spent like $17 total for the tank and nozzle at home depot  I should have gotten one a while ago, but I was expecting it to cost twice as much šŸ˜…

I found some nice torches! The one I like is from skunk labs and was 30-35 bucks… has held up for about two years…

They are super cheap actually, the nozzle is the most expensive part. Good job getting the one without the ignition button, those always go out way to soon.

Youll be suprised how long one of those tanks will last you, if you dont turn it up super high when you use it. Mines for daily dabbing and mycology and that tank usually last over 6 months. Much cheaper then buying overpriced cans of butane

Dope! Now turn around, go back to the store, and return that blue tank for one of the squat, green coleman camping propane tanks.

They are shorter with a wider base meaning harder to accidentally bump into and knock over. Trust me.

nate is right, screw those tall tanks.

Also, having a click start is worth every penny. I've had my benzomatic piezo click start since my highschool girlfriends dad bought it for me for my birthday many many many years ago. I stopped buying the fancy MAP gas. Propane is plenty hot enough for me.

Agreed Ive used a click start nozzle for nearly a decade now and wouldnt buy anything else.

Too easy to operate efficiently with one hand to not justify it over one you have to use a sparker or lighter to get going.

Same here I bought at least 2 in 6 months and the clicker went out on both, I still used the second one and just lit it with a lighter but it defeats the purpose of having the clicker. I was using for my dab rig as well so it got used frequently but I've experienced them to crap out.

You guys can get a refill adapter to refill those green tanks from a BBQ tank.

It's as simple as screwing it on and turning tank upside down before opening valve for a few seconds, remove it and depress the the valve a few times to purge air, repeat twice.

Should cost about $1 a tank or so this way.

I was wondering about that.. looks like you can refill the blue ones too..

That's a good point about the green tank having a bigger base

The ignition button seems to go out in every torch that finds its way in to my household  I figured I'd skip that step and just use a lighter

For that price, why not just buy a bacticinerator?

I think its because the bacticinerator doesnt get the scalpel red hot , or at least quickly enough to justify using it. However, for a inoc loop it sounds pretty useful.

It gets it plenty hot, we only get scalpels red hot because we can't be sure of the temp without visual confirmation. These are made to sterilize instruments after all, and red hot is overkill to be safe since we have no other indicators with a flame. The bacticinerator gets well over the temp of killing contams at 800C and takes as little as 5-7 seconds to sterilize an instrument. They also sterilize more of the instrument while not getting too hot and never need a refill. With two scalpels being rotated in the bacticinerator, one in use and one being sterilized, you can work much faster than you can with flaming a scalpel between uses, since you're never spending time hovering a blade over a flame. For around the same price, I don't know why you wouldn't just buy a bacticinerator.
