Are These Things Pins?
    #27856107 - 07/09/22 01:55 PM (1 year, 6 months ago)

This is a tiny test tub of GT sporeprint—>agar>agar>grain> cvg. There are some normal pins but what are the clusters of freak pins? Thanks!

IMO it looks contaminated, that’s some strange growth
You can also see on that side mycelium is expelling metabolites that’s usually a sign of it fighting something off.

My money is on pins… just looks like the caps haven’t formed yet or some blob mutation.  Now I’m curious to see it play out lol

I’m really interested to see what will happen here too. It has been a great experience to take spores from foil to this point. I’ll hopefully have something to clone from this experiment. I’ll try and update this if something worthwhile shows up. BTW, before I loosened the lid, water drops made those pits along the sides.

I think you have a Coprinus contamination but that's a guess based on your pictures.
Try zoom into the light brown clusters.

To be fair though, multiple transfers and your tub looks like that?
I'd start over with the culture.

About 6 days later we have some life and a veil is breaking and appears to dropping spores on itself. The strange clusters have been mostly consumed by myc in a too humid tiny container and I think a pin or two came out of them.
