So, I went through some shit over the last couple of years with losing a baby and losing my person and stuff. I’m okay now, but I’ve been on dating apps for a few months now….and wtf!? I swear it’s a fucking free for all of prostitution and OnlyFans. What happened to actually giving a like and going on a date with someone. Is this really how dating is now? If so…☹️

It's all an algorithm designed to manipulate.
Do not be confused as some do and think that this is the average user. The ones you see are the ones the algorithm sets out for you. For an average male, the algorithm figures out that most women do not see you as worth swiping over, due to the volume of users - women have so many men swipe right on them that they only swipe on the very best, whereas men tend to swipe on a much higher percentage of women.
As a result, the algorithm shows average men women that are judged far below average.
I have also noticed, their system has now designed it so that it requires extra work to even look at the profile descriptions, they want swiping to be all based on look, favoring scammers and those who are looking for sex immediately.
Don't bother with other dating sites. The same company, match.com, has bought them all and transformed every dating site into this same garbage, it's actually a monopoly, they recently bought OKCupid which used to have thought-out profiles and turned it into a load of shit based on swiping just like tinder.

No, dating apps intentionally show you garbage. Just remember, everyone it shows you is not 'random', there are invisible scores manipulated to show you that person.
Delete every app and find someone elsewhere. You could find a better woman at any random bar, than on tinder for 4 months.

As a 50year old newly back on the market, exercising covid caution still, I’ve been online dating again.
I met my last 2 girlfriends online. I’ve had about 20 first dates in the last 4 months. Most were positive experiences even if not the right fit.
I agree ok Cupid was ruined by match, but in my demographic I’m finding people to meet and connect with.

“If you ain’t found one quite right yet, you need to step with pep to the park and supermarket” ~ M.A.
Get off the computer and out of the bars of you are looking for a real connection. Real people hang out in real places. Organically meeting someone in a non- intimidating and everyday spot is the way to go.

Yea, I am 40 now and it’s not getting easier. I think for people in our age group, the transition from in person to online has been even more difficult.

I am glad you mentioned this. I read your response this morning and knew I needed to go shopping a couple of places for my oyster garden. I forced myself at Tractor Supply to step out of my box and talk to a woman who was shopping as well. I of course made sure there wasn’t a ring before approaching because I’m not that guy lol. We sparked a great conversation and ended up exchanging numbers. So thanks for that!
