Are these contaminated? They were supposed to be Super Strain Koh Samui from PremiumSpores.com but they look quite a bit fatter and shorter than I thought they would...

The mushrooms look ok.What did you roll your cakes in? Is that bark, or super coarse verm? They look like nice KSSS UFOs to me.

The verm I got is like this too. No need to buy a diff kind (if you can even find that in a b&m anymore). I just spin mine a few times in the blender, works great! :mushroom2:

I noticed some green spots in my jars about 2 days after shaking. Didn't see those before the shake. But the green spots really don't seem to be growing much...

Might this be trichoderma?

Here are some pictures, taken soon after a shake, and then two days later:

Jar 1

Jar 2

Jar 3

Jar 4

Jar 5

And there here are some more jars with some funky green stuff.

Is this a show-stopper for these jars?

I’ll let someone keener than I confirm, but that looks like bruising to me. Looks more blue than green.

@baldur* Keep your eyes on whatever u suspect
If it expands it's mold

This is surely not expanding, so yeah hopefully not mold.

But I'm not familiar with the concept of bruising. What is that exactly in this context?

I did shake the jars quite vigorously, by banging them on a rubber slipper quite hard. 3-4 bangs resulted in all the grains being loose. Did I maybe overdo it?

You know how mushrooms bruise blue? Mycelium also bruises blue. And you did shake it, so there would be bruising

Ahhh mushroom bruising! I was thinking it was the grains that were bruising.

Yes I do know that kind of bruising, my brain is just not working at full speed today

So would this indicate that I am shaking them to hard?

Nope, you can shake as hard as you need. Too many shakes after full colonization and you  might start getting diminishing returns.

This is the first time I have seen this in my LC, though I do VERY little LC so am not that skilled in it.

I am going to guess this is some sort of mold (the bright white growth) like penicillin or trich or something? When I dropped the tiny agar bit into the jar in front of my flow hood, it sank (50/50 some sink some float). The mycelium grew as normal from the bottom of the jar and suddenly one day I noticed this little floater here growing. It floated on the surface for 5 or so days before sinking and now living below the surface.

I see a little blueing but nothing that looks bad, at least in my opinion. Trich would be more green and when I had a tub with it on the side like that it was a lighter green, kind of hard to see. Ok the surface there was no mistaking it.
