Terrapin station for me.
I'm by no means a deadhead though.

hey man fuck that studio stuff dude. go to either www.gdlive.com or www.nugs.net, get some live stuff like early 70's to like '76 ish. if you like more "out there" stuff (which i do) get some late 60's shit, its fucking killer in my opinion.

Are you guys listening to a different version of Dark Star? Cuz I'm listening to a live version of it, and I just don't see what's so special about it. I mean, it's somewhat decent, but nowhere near good enough to make me want to see them live.

I posted this in the music thread, but no one really answered. My question is how good does Haynes fill Jerry's position. I dont think anyone could come close but im just worried about being disappointed when i see them live for the first time this summer because of Hayne's harder southern rock style, or does he modify this to a more "Jerry-like" style? Or do they sound 100% diffrent than they used to...oh also does Haynes do most of the singing?

I am definitely there for the music. Sometimes the scene is great, (wasn't too impressed with the Dead as opposed to the Grateful Dead scene which was AWESOME) which is definitley a nice bonus but you will always catch me there for the MUSIC!!! I am so stoked-- i leave thursday for 3 red rocks shows then to Utah for one more. Can't wait to see them again.

Like everyone else is saying: you have got to see them perform it LIVE. It really is different than watching them on tv, or out of your computer- especially if you've never experienced live Dead. Dark star, live, with Jerry, on acid= one of my favorite experiences EVER. I guarantee you would at least LIKE it.

I'm sure I could at least tolerate it, but someone else would have to buy my ticket for me, cuz I sure as hell wouldn't pay to see that.

I wouldn't bother then. Go to a rave, sounds like more your style than the Dead. To each his own.
