split stem
    #2785132 - 06/11/04 04:02 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Does anyone know how come a stem will split right under the cap in four places exactly 90 degrees apart? I've seen this twice and do not know why it happens. Could be high humidity with low temperature. Who knows? Thanks.
It is like poking a knife into the stem right under the cap so there is a small slit ,then moving the knife 90 degrees around the stem and making another slit. Then pushing down on the cap so the slits open up.
Anybody know what gives?

i've had stems split in various places, and the shroom continued to grow to full size. I have some pics that I'll be posting sometime in the future. But no, i can't explain it. It's probably along the lines of some kind of mutation. Retarded Shrooms.

Hey, I have seen what you're talking about.  Unfortunately, I don't have pics.

It was my first grow...1/2 pint PF cakes, second flush.  The cubes grew a little skinnier than the first flush, and as they grew out the stem split into 4 parts beneath the cap.

These shrooms dried out to weigh less (shroom per shroom) than the first flush.  I had dunked after the first flush.. So I'm not sure the reason for the split.

But hey, the shrooms worked fine nonetheless!
