personalizing lighters

i remember a recent thread where someone made their own lighters, and i would like to make my own...in light of that:
how is it done? my friend measures the lighters than prints out copies and decupages them on...
however, the decupage is a poor way to mask on the image. it leaves lines giving in a shiny woody finish i dont agree with.
if anyone has any suggestions please let me know how to master the "do" of personalizing lighters!
thanks all peace

maybe you should do a search in the marketplace forum because a long time ago there was a guy who customized lighters for people on the shroomery and for himself ofcoarse

Carving really can create original designs and stuff, but i'm always paranoid I'm going to burst the lighter in my hands.

No, I don't see any reason it would cause a spark so there would be no flame.. but the plastic shrapnel sounds painful.

Clear packing tape & double-stick tape works well. Print or Cut an image out & make it the size of the lighter by wrapping it around & cutting off excess. I currently have lighters with the following pictures: a Ginger candy wrapper, a Green Tea bag, a campfire.. and one I made a paint pen drool all over & then blew real hard on the wet paint getting a crazy design. clear packing tape around the outside & it's don
