spray?
    #2784763 - 06/11/04 02:12 PM (13 years, 14 days ago)

my bud just harvested his first flush... the casing are somewhat dehyrdrated so he has to rehydrate them.... he plans on misting the hell out of them, will there be any difference if he sprays with really cold water or just room temp? ie faster pinning ( hes assuming merely spraying will induce pinning)

you will never fully rehydrate from misting alone I would recommend dunking....dunking casings is slightly more difficult than cakes but once you get it down its highly worth it

it might but a bucket or tupperware w/ lid will work better,,,plus you need to find somthing heavy to keep it under the water!

If you don't have room in the fridge, fill some quart jars with ice and water---use that to weigh down your casings.

well after attempting to take the casings out they are too fragile and seem to be crumbling... would it be best to pour water around the sides of the casing where it has pulled away from its container, and then drain? also, will the casings pin even if there is no temp drop?

Your casings should be in trays inside ANOTHER larger box, the terrarium. Take the casings out of the terrarium and place them in the fridge. If you put your substrate directly into the terrarium, then you might be out of luck.

They may pin, but cold shocking helps trigger pinning in "stalled" mycelium. I believe that mycelium that has run out of moisture (and needs to be dunked) is in a stalled state, and so the cold is greatly beneficial at that stage.
