I have done so much heroin and fentanyl psychedelics just remind me of my mistakes...some problematic benzo use too...there's no fix, just keep on
Keepin on.  People will say meds; maybe they're right.  I've been on Ssri and antipsychotics but they aren't actual treatmeant to me; more like damage mitigation,  only you can decide how far gone you are

Good luck
Op

I feel you Deemstar, I've also done a hell of a lot of drugs. I know the allure and the cryptic way they take over our lives.

I'm a bit older than you now in my 40's, and I can assure there is a way out. It's plain old good food and exercise, paired with new experiences and learning. I know that's so boring and cliche but that's really how it is.

Picture it like this... Your mind is a single process computer, more powerful than the most powerful supercomputer in the world. But it doesn't multithread, you can only truly think one thing at a time, but it does act upon the power you feed it. So by feeding your mind lots of power, new experiences and new knowledge you make your supercomputer experience more than any routine. As when you're experiencing routine it all becomes pointless, nothing new happens, it's like your life is being shortened by lack of new processes.

I keep mind fresh by studying constantly, making music, being among nature, helping people and light psychedelic use. Whatever your path to freshness is needs to come from you, we're not the same creature, but the principle still applies.

If your job is dragging you down get a new one, learn a new career. If your friends are dragging you down get new ones. If your out of work experiences are boring get out there and do something. Make a picture, ride a bike, ride a girl/boy, swim, learn to cook, take a new part time study, fix your car up, do something. Do something new, keep doing new things, never stop. It'll satiate your hedonism and keep you out of trouble as well.

I hope this makes sense to you brother, I know it seems simple to say compared to doing, but it really is that simple. Commit and recommit, make shit happen.

Feel free to reach out at any time if you need a chat. I've been through hell and have come back, there is a way back. It's not just a sentence of boring monotony instead of fucked up crazy fun. There's a better way.

I've come to the conclusion that monotony often fuels misery.  When we repeat mostly the same routine every day we quickly become stagnant. We can lead a life where we lack new interesting and sometimes exciting activities and meeting new people. I like your term "freshness" - what do we do to seek and engage in remarkable experiences?

The lure of chronic drug & alcohol abuse is, in part, the temptation of living in a tiny world with a primary singular focus and the seeming comfort and security of routine. But there is a huge price to pay for such a craving for control.  Drugs & alcohol always deliver the mood change.  People are fickle.

You never know what might happen when you meet new people and establish new relationships. And that means possibly being hurt or disappointed. Drugs & alcohol are consistent and dependable. Even the pain they cause is very dependable. I've engineered hundreds of brutal hangovers in my lifetime.  It's like orchestrating my own painful Shakespearean drama.  I always prefer pain to feelings of emptiness.

My life is so God damn fucked up trying to explain my situation over the past 3 years in a single post would probably give the reader an aneurysm.

Feel like I stuck in my own Donnie Darko movie and im at the point where I can see peoples life energy and trails and all see them going somewhere except my own.

Idk if its the planetary alignment or some shit but parts of my mind have been waking up but and feels like shifting from being unconscious to more aware but the stability comes and goes and when it drops off I feel like I have brain damage or something.

Recently relocated across my home state, probably during the worst time I could possibly move, but I had no choice because I couldn't afford to hold my own apartment anymore with the wage I was stuck at and a bottleneck local economy.

Making closer to median income now but found myself situated on the edge of Detroit, and it's a difficult transition.

Record gas prices, masks, crime, guns, crazy traffic, the works.

Price of food going up, marijuana prices are at an all time low.

I feel the true root of my problem is mass psychosis. Our society has become so insane that one cannot point out the insanity to those who are not aware or facing it or it will scare them, and then the individual faces being ostracized and labeled a lunatic 4 trying.

Yeah those legal problems are a fucken drain man and it'll be hard to pull out of your slump until that plate is cleared.

At the same time you gotta just live. Small changes all the time. Just keep persevering making small changes. Just make it a little bit better whenever you can. Don't give up.

I don't envy you brother, it sounds hard as fuck. But you can get through it, you will be stronger on the other side.
