That's pretty irrelevant.  Belief doesn't make something more likely to be true.  Evidence does.  What evidence have you of the existence of a soul?

Yes it is. Join my religion! Embrace Sun-Thuluism!

Plus, it is quite literally the giver of life, since we've got an entire biosphere entirely dependent on continued solar radiation with little variation. That's pretty god-like.

Ok, I guess I'll join your religion. I'm busy Sundays, though, and I hate meetings. Christmas is cool. Do you do Christmas? I'm a big fan of reindeer and snowflakes are pretty special.

Who would have thought that if you bombard the earth with photons for long enough, eventually it will emit skyscrapers and mobile phones?

The sun may be the energy giver, but the matter we are made of comes from the death of stars elsewhere.

Wow this thread exploded!
Look no one wants a late term abortion but the need for healthcare professionals to have all options available in order to fulfill the oath they take is important to protect. The decision should be between a licensed medical doctor and the patient and their family and no one else  should know if HEPA laws are adhered to.
IMO all the American medical doctors should sack up & tell congress how to do their jobs . Congress sucks at conducting the business of the people , and would do well to follow doctors advice.

This isn't about Congress, or "late term" abortions. This is about all abortions, and SCOTUS.

Well you’re right I guess. In a country of for profit prisons it makes fiscal sense to make abortion illegal and get as many women in the system as possible. It’s a guaranteed income stream.
The courts inspire the opposite of confidence. They have been purchased , along with congress by the wealthy elite. We are all part of a government Ponzi scheme.

"country of for profit prisons" certainly isn't America. Less than 10% of incarcerated people are in private prisons.

Since I started this thread and reading thru it’s evident people are highly polarized on the subject. Also apparent is a general mistrust of authority and a feeling neither side is getting what they need.
Hate and animosity are heavy burdens to carry.

This is a highly polarizing subject. It's probably one of the most heated topics in politics today, and rightly so. The effect that abortion rights have on families is quite far reaching, and there is also a deep religious component to the discussion, for many people.

There are a lot of bullshit distractions, but this isn't one of them. Distractions are meant to drive people's focus away from the real issues. This is the realest of issues.

Some of them. Many are about economic issues like property, taxes, employers vs employees, etc. Many of the these economic laws favor the rich, which is why Reagan and Trump were able pay no taxes some years; lots of tax right-offs in real estate. The reason why feminists came up with 'Ms.' is because Miss and Mrs. indicated whose property the female was, the father's or the husband's.

It can all be construed as keeping the peace, but in many cases laws facilitate exploitation.

How does that apply to abortion law?

If civilization collapses as a result of a certain behavior, we have an interest in regulating that behavior. Thus we make a distinction between rights and privileges.

It starts with the premise that what differentiates society from the wilderness is the agreement to live at a high standard of living and uphold that standard, for the good of the citizens by law enforcers.

A majority support right to choose, so democracy, etc, etc.
At any rate the repeal of Roe v Wade will help the Democrats in the next two elections.

The real issue is control of women and them knowing where they belong in society. Baby murder is the distraction.

I shit on that:snub:

That's all great... But I wasn't asking why we have laws. I think we're all aware of why we have laws lol

I think, as far as abortion law goes, it's just one of those unpalatable realities we all have to face. Many times in life there are situations where there is no easy solution. Our guiding principle should be to provide the most freedom for the most people, and let them decide what is right for their particular circumstances, which will always be uniquely different than everybody else's.
