ramifications of using too much water
    #2783555 - 06/11/04 01:47 AM (13 years, 10 months ago)

I have used the basic PF Tek w/ much success but was careless during my last prep session. I believed that I used too much water in combining the BRF and the verm. Mycelium is growing, but I am afraid that the extra water contained might lead to something bad. Should I be extremely fearful of something bad happening?

It all depends how much extra water u put in the mix. You might be fine. If you are getting good growth already, and your substr8 is well mixed, you're prolly A-OK.

I had one jar a couple months back that i forgot about that had way too much water in it. I'm now making a casing out of it. It sorta smelled like wet/dirty feet when i broke it open, but i just scraped the water rotted stuff off the bottom. It didn't look bad at all, just smelled a little funky. As long as they aren't swimming in their jars i think you'd be good! :mushroom2:

More then likely they will take a while to finish but should be fine.

agreed. take the tape off the holes and flip them upside down (onto the lids) so the cakes dont sit in the condensation.

The mycelium seems to be spreading just fine w/ no signs of contamination. Thank you for the reassurance.
