You need to follow the instructions in the sticky thread at the top of the forum. It will tell you how to write enough description.

At first glance that looks like a Coprinus. We need to know things like habitat to identify it.

Happy mushrooming!

What was it growing from?

Was there only the one mushroom, or were there a bunch of them? If there were a bunch, were they growing with the bases of the stems all together or were they growing as separate individuals?

If you have a magnifier, try looking really close at the gills. Are the edges a different color than the main part of the gill? If so, what are the different colors?

Happy mushrooming!

A group photo would be cool, just because I'd like to see it.

Your mushrooms are probably in the group of species similar to Coprinus ephemerus. Unfortunately, there are a pile of similar looking species, and an accurate ID to species among them requires a microscope. None of them should be considered edible, and none are active. None of them are known to be poisonous, either.

Happy mushrooming!

heh, take another look, I'll tell you right now the spores aren't blue.  Make sure you're seeing what's there rather than what you want to see.  I don't know why you would want to see blue spores in the first place, but it seems like you do :smirk:.

Anyway, no mushroom has blue spores.

They are Coprinus as ToxicMan said and should have black spores.

DH
