I've never harvested "large" stones from jars, and yes they always seem to be mostly balls of grain held together with mycelium. They would just fall apart when I started cleaning them. The big stones I posted pictures of only showed up after I spawned to a tub of coir and (reluctantly) cased with fahtster's famous "Peat/Verm Casing Prep Instructions". Previous to this I have never cased anything... I am now a convert.
I'm enjoying experimenting with sclerotia, I've finally got some fruits going in a tub and I can see lots of chunky bois pushing up through the casing.
Many thanks to all the regulars here that share their experiences and help the newcomers along.

Does anyone know of any good resources on getting sclerotia to form for morels?

the mexicana fruits of course, have you tried them ?

No, I haven't actually tried them. It's actually been over a year since I took a month long toletence break that never ended.
I'm not sure what the spelling is, pretty sure this is how Ambrose spelled it but then again I got like selective dislexya or something... or you know I just don't pay attention

im on this same mission, im doing bods oat tek with a little spend coffee mixed in, only 1 jar was colonizing, 1 jar was all contam, the rest are doing nothing. fingers crossed.

For morels, it's all about genetics and time. I have a yellow morel ms that makes sclerotia across the whole surface of the plate eventually. It is very fast mycelium initially. It will colonize a dish in maybe 5 days tops with a very thin initial growth and then work on growing "fleece" for another several weeks, and after a couple months or longer you'll start seeing sclerotia. Some make sclerotia a lot faster than others.
