Ps mexicana Rancho Augusto, buried two fresh quart sized cakes in this pot. Cakes were rye and a sterilized mix of coir/jiffy seed starter/verm in equal parts.
It's been outside on my balcony loosely covered with a bag and survived drops to as low as 50. It's also been pretty windy so I've had to mist it a lot. I can confidently say they have hygrophanous caps

They look so beautiful. Nice job! May I ask what type of soil was already in the pot when you buried the cakes?

The pots were empty to start. I started doing this last summer and it performed very well so I'm doing it with everything this year.
What I do is I start with a bag (liner) just for easy clean up
Put down a good layer of perlite for drainage, like an inch thick at least
Throw the cakes on top. I normally use quart sized cakes based on Muda's Bottle TEK recipes. This pot is two cakes laid on their side
Use verm to fill in the gaps around the cakes to make it level with the top of the cakes.
Cover with jiffy mix seed starter.
I poke holes in the bag through the holes in the flower pot and water the whole thing with a watering can to start. Then mist as needed. Which for cubes, isn't. Tamps last year needed misting and the mexi also did
I've been keeping them covered with a bag but I recently buried some cubes, nats and subtropicalis. I put grass or clover seed in the soil and I'm hoping I can leave them uncovered.
Have some grass in the Ps cyan and ovoid pots, it's keeping the soil so much more moist.

Not sure if too old or too wet.
The stones from the one from 2021-02-21 were all squishy and gross. They smelled fine, but I just weighed them and tossed them in the trash. The rest were fine from 2021-03-11, 2021-09-27 & 2022-02-11. They all got blended and made into gummies, so no potency comparison, sadly.
P.S. I did a write up on my gummy from stone recipe. Stoned Gummys

I finally received my ATL#7 spores and got them on agar. wanted to check and see if WBS was a suitable grain for stone production. I'm excited to finally try stones! Thanks!

Just want to confirm you bury the quart cakes instead of shredding them like you would do with a cube?

Decided to cough up some cash for unlimited uploads so here's a second mexicana flower pot. This one has a cake that's about 3 liters, 1:1 rye to coir/jiffy mix seed starter/verm

Have you found keeping the cakes in tact result in better yield than shredded?

Appreciate the answers. Those canopies are solid but I think I might break it up and see how it does.

My water logged outdoor tub harvest. I had a few too many "rain days" and these chunky bois were swimming for their lives. (ATL 7).
I'll clone the big boi and see what happens.

I can't wait to have enough post for photos.. I've busted out a few jars at 90-120 days and have only seen " punky masses" of much with grains all inside. They all fruit well but, nothing I'd call a stone though. Hopefully my agar pins will provide.. if not agar pebbles will be next thanks for sharing all!

I've never harvested "large" stones from jars, and yes they always seem to be mostly balls of grain held together with mycelium. They would just fall apart when I started cleaning them. The big stones I posted pictures of only showed up after I spawned to a tub of coir and (reluctantly) cased with fahtster's famous "Peat/Verm Casing Prep Instructions". Previous to this I have never cased anything... I am now a convert.
I'm enjoying experimenting with sclerotia, I've finally got some fruits going in a tub and I can see lots of chunky bois pushing up through the casing.
Many thanks to all the regulars here that share their experiences and help the newcomers along.
