dessicant in the incubator?
    #2782837 - 06/10/04 06:31 PM (19 years, 9 months ago)

ive seen posts where people will put dessicant in their incubator and have had excess moisture problems in the past and was wondering if dessicant does well without helping to dry out the substrate in the jars. my jars have only tyvek and the ring for the tops so they can get crazy air exchange and are probably more susseptable to drying out quickly. any ideas?

Do you have a towel @ the bottom of ur tub? I find that solves the issue for me.

im trying to not put much in there except for my jars. ive seen all kinds of molds growing all over tyvek, so im worried to put just about anything in there. does the towel also serve to raise the jars from the bottom without impeding heat transfer? i might give it a try, but im shaky . . . mold has scarred me for life.

anyone have anything to say about the dessicant?

hmm. i dunno...i open up my incubator quite a bit, and I still have condensation in my incubator. Even my coffee filters on my jars seem slightly moist at times. Lately though, i've had my incubator pretty full, and have on occasion, noticed water pooled up in the bottom of it. I was thinking about running an air pump into it, to help whisk some of the moisture away. If i do that, the pump will be on a timer, so as not to be constantly whisking the heat away.

Just a little insight from me.
