Iโm thinking about a water tub, but I canโt really buy anything for a week or so. Payroll error at work. If I put some jar rings in the bottom of a shoebox as spacers, added water, and then put a shoebox on top of that with holes in the bottom and threw a bag over it all, would that be a suitable fruiting environment for my PF cakes?
Sorry not mush related, but maybe have them cut you a check a different way Im not 100%, but I think making you wait a week might be illegal

The payroll error was mine, not the companyโs. I appreciate the concern, but itโs definitely my fault. Theyโre good at working with me, and if I pressed the issue I could get cash, but itโs just getting rolled into next weekโs check.

Quick question: I have a clone sample of a P.Cubensis strain colonizing some agar, and there does NOT seem to be any contam. Im eager to get the myc into my grain jars... but should I do a transfer before? Or just go for it?

I always go to at least to t1 and most of the time I transfer a couple times from the clone material just to get rid of any sneaky contams that aren't obvious.

Hi, I'm mentally disabled and have tramatic brain injury and PTSD. I've used these type of medicines for many years but now I'd like to get a kit to grow maybe up to a pound. I'm in Oakland and would like to know if there are any good kits out there and I'd probably grow golden teachers...
Thank you for any help,
Kelly

Hey Kelly! Glad you are here and going to grow your own meds. Usually we try and discourage kits because they are contam factories most of the time.
Usually we try and steer people into starting with the updated Pf tek
It is really just a little vermiculite and brown rice flour and you will have to get a syringe and some 1/2 pint jars but other then that there isn't much up front cost. It is pretty easy too. The brf jars handle contam way better then those kits most of the time.
The syringe is usually a little dirty from the vendor because mushrooms aren't grown in sterile environments.
After I had cakes that were colonized I broke 4 of them up and made a Shoebox like this.
Good luck and welcome to the Shroomery!

It would be worth your while and worry to give it at least one more transfer. Especially if itโs a clone tissue. Donโt rush the process! Make certain itโs nice and clean.

Quick question, after I got all flushes out of my substrate, can I just "enhance" it somehow, mix with coir (sugar?) and just keep on going? Or I need to do G2B again, thx.

It depends what it looks like. I often skipped the extra transfer steps. It's a crapshoot and you will learn your betting odds over time.

Usually I just bury used sub outside and let it continue to fruit out there.. there is also the Endless sub tek if you want to recycle used sub.
I don't think there is any way to "enhance" it. I recommend starting your next project before your current project finishes... if you keep a constant rotation of projects, it won't be so hard to let go

Hey, new grower here!
Just had my first brown oyster flush ever and I'm getting mixed results so I was hoping it would be an easy fix.
Short summary - 3x3m plastic sheet/wood frame enclosure, cycling air 4 times per hour and maintaining humidity in the 85-95% range, small fan to ensure circulation, 1000 lumens 6500K light.
I'm getting very small caps (~2in diameter) and the first flush was around 250grams on 3kg blocks and I'm not really sure why. Attached pictures, let me know if you see anything obviously wrong with the setup or growing conditions.
Thanks a bunch in advance!

Are you just top fruiting? I donโt know that much about gourmet varieties, but I feel like I usually see multiple grow points on these bags. Might be totally wrong!

For any chemists around, I bought lab grade calcium hydroxide instead of agriculture grade. it's just pure calcium hydroxide. My question is how much stronger a teaspoon of this is compared to the Ag grade?

Dumb question:
When I use perlite in a fruiting chamber - say, in a ziplock - can that perlite be reliably reused?
