I wouldn't send that yet, still lots of different growth there.

Should I transfer where it looks slightly more rhizo at the top?

Don't box yourself in, take some from a few areas. You have good looking growth but you want to try isolate uniformity if it's rhizo or not.

No real need unless I want to save the spores and have no other choice. It's time consuming and dirty.

I grew some blue magnolia using dried fruit.
My homie had some extra strength bag shrooms that I wanted the genetics of. So I broke up some dried cap on agar and waited for the results. It looked super shitty so I just threw it on the shelf and eventually I got a plate pin.
I then transferred that to clean agar and got a good flush after it was all said and done.
I learned some things though. Mainly that it can be done. But it is a dirty job like Derrald pointed out. You might get lucky though if it is a last resort. It took a long long time. Adding yeast to my agar helped it pin Imo.
Good luck!

Question: Why is it that myc grows on the top of the agar in the plate but when I drop into a jar it grows straight thru the agar to the other side??

I've used it after almost a month without issue..
I'm sure it can go a lot longer. I remember reading a thread where someone used it like 6 months after prepping it.
I've started preparing more than I need so I can easily expand a jar or 2 in the morning without needing to prep any substrate. Yes, this is the lazy way of doing things, but it works
Edit: just noticed you said bucket, I've been using sealed ziplock bags with the extra air squeezed out. Idk if storage method will make a difference or not

Worse case scenario I’m sure I could PC a quart if I have to. But if bags work for you I’ll invest in a box. I’m thinking of doing a ziplock chamber anyway. Can’t hurt.
Thanks!

Just want to add its better to store hydrated coir with the lid slightly cracked not sealed to prevent creating an anaerobic environment.

Yeah Ziplocks can be a really versatile tool. If you can find the 2.5 gallon bags they're really good for making fahtlocks with more surface area, and they can hold a good amount of substrate... sometimes they have them at Walmart, but I've had better luck finding the Target brand

Quick followup question:
I’m thinking about a water tub, but I can’t really buy anything for a week or so. Payroll error at work. If I put some jar rings in the bottom of a shoebox as spacers, added water, and then put a shoebox on top of that with holes in the bottom and threw a bag over it all, would that be a suitable fruiting environment for my PF cakes?

Idk if that would work, it might someone else may know for sure..
Do you have any coir, vermiculite or perlite?
If so, you could aways put some in the bottom of a shoebox, put your cakes in there, cover it with plastic wrap, and poke a few holes...
It would hold you over until you're able to get your water tub up and running
Idk, just the first idea that popped in my head

Plenty of coir and verm, no perlite. Would that work? Set the cake right onto some hydrated coir? I know there’s a dozen ways to fruit a cake, so any idea with shoebox tubs, coir, and verm I can do.

There is actually a tek, where you bury them in coir, that seems to work pretty well.. I'll edit in the link when I find it

Hi Guys
I have a question regarding harvesting and would be grateful for some advice as I’m a beginner in mushroom cultivation.
I have a cake of Ecuador cubensis in a fruiting chamber on the first flush which has formed many small pins and some mushrooms that have grown to around 1inch. I have noticed this morning that one of the small mushrooms has a broken veil.
My question is do I now have to harvest the whole flush, or can i pick the first mushroom with the broken veil and then store in the fridge and wait for the rest of the mushrooms and pins to mature a little further ?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Pick them as they mature and dry them as soon as you are able. You can store them in the fridge for a couple of days, but it’s best to get them desiccated as soon as possible.
